    Novel Perspective: Opposing Bases

Not sure if this has been mentioned before here, but: I recently discovered a podcast made by two ATC controllers from the Triad that is very informative and useful to pilots (especially those working on instrument stuffs). Their day job is Tower and Approach control at CLT but they both fly on...

Flat Earth and I can prove it

Stay with me here and I promise by the end you’ll agree with me the Earth is flat! Earth’s surface is around 70% water, right? And like 95% of that water is the oceans…agree? Of all that ocean water NONE of it is carbonated…. And if its NOT carbonated then…say it with me… The. Earth. Is. Flat.

    IFR Plan under VMC

I’m stuck on the concept of a CFII not wanting to fly IMC. How’s that work? How’s that happen? Just does not compute...

Atc question: pickup clearance in air or call.

I’ve done it many times, but I don’t like it. In a P-180 I want to get into the flight levels relatively quickly and not get stuck at 17,500 waiting for ATC to have enough time / space to work me in. Launching VFR I’m just going on blind faith it’ll work out. With that said, it’s always worked...

Want to buy a plane. What's your take?

Funny, I don’t feel like a ‘rich guy’. I’d guess I’m in the bottom 50% of folk on this forum.

Want to buy a plane. What's your take?

So I read $2100 per month plus $40/hr for the nut and maintenance and hangar? That seems doable.

Want to buy a plane. What's your take?

Oh, I missed your post and it was a good one too. When you say '310' you mean a Cessna 310, right? I can't imagine taking on the cost of a multi to be honest.

Want to buy a plane. What's your take?

I don't have a seaplane rating and don't see me getting one.

Want to buy a plane. What's your take?

No worries, not taking the wrong way. Really liked the post. But $10k per month seems out of reach. How much do I need for down payment to finance a plane?

Want to buy a plane. What's your take?

I'm 47 and I also get a 13%defined contribution from the company. In addition I add 13% of my pay to 401k so with 26% going towards retirement I feel 'pretty good' despite being 47 and behind schedule.

Want to buy a plane. What's your take?

I tried to also mention the out go. $2k mortgage and $500 cars. That's it plus food and *stuff.

Want to buy a plane. What's your take?

Honestly I'm sorta new at making decent money. Last January my airline pay was just $87 per hour. Now with a new contract and upgrade I'm at $208. Add wife's $74k annual salary and you get just short of the $300k I mentioned. Up til now the plan was to dig out of debt. We've done that now minus...

Want to buy a plane. What's your take?

Good point. I was thinking Lance cause I could get all of us in it (I think) for evac in the event of a hurricane. When the big one isn't on the door step I'd like to take peeps up to A) show they've been looking at the world sideways, and B) go local (within say 500 miles) and see stuff. Trips...
