    Price's Law

True here. There is just me on this project. The square root is one and he only does 50%.

    no jokes, just punch lines.

Those who spell “spine” become doctors. The rest go to flight school.

What is "geomagnetic center" SE of KEZF on sectional

Yes. But without already knowing what it is, I would have never identified it. Everyone can recognize a plant when they see one. There’s even a “brick yard” near here that you instantly know when you see it. Nobody knows what a geomagnetic center looks like.

Hey old people, tell us what you can't do!

Speak for yourself. I remember things and whatever the other thing is too. ;)

What is "geomagnetic center" SE of KEZF on sectional

Google says it's this, a NOAA site for training. Is that supposed to be distinctive enough or have enough significance that pilots know what it is? https://www.ngs.noaa.gov/corbin/

Looking for info on less lethal/non lethal self defense products

Specifically on pepper ball, there's two drawbacks to them - 1) It's a gun firing an exploding ball round. You have to hit the target, the ball doesn't explode until it hits. If you miss, someone else might be getting it. 2) It's effectively a strong pepper spray (PAVA), but if the person...

Is Broken at 1300 considered VFR?

A not so weird situation - you're legal at 1100 agl when you're in class G outside the Echo/Delta. Then you fly into the Echo/Delta area and suddenly you're violating VFR cloud clearance. As pointed out above, you are allowed to as required for landing. You should be significantly lower as...

Mechanic in Annual Inspection Replaced ELT that hadn't expired and charged me for it

    1) I would question it with the shop owner on why they replaced a battery after 1 year. Ultimately they did the work and you will probably have to pay them for it unless they say oops and make a compromise. If you don't they will have a mechanic's lien on your plane. 2) I would question why...

    Lets make Friday 'Joke Day'!

Possibly making the point that you should never trust your eyes. Despite the drawing, it’s not a right triangle. The missing angle on the left is 80, so 100 on that corner on the right. 100 + 35 means the remaining angle is 45 and the opposite one is 135. There is a somewhat silly theorem...

    Florida in Crosshairs Again…. Milton

Of course it can. That's why I say "it looks like" and not "it will". The area south of the eye will get the flooding wherever the eye comes ashore. Right now, that still looks like Cape Coral will get the worse because of low lying areas, but the whole coast between there and Tampa is...

    Florida in Crosshairs Again…. Milton

The focus has been on Tampa, but it looks like the bad flooding is going to be south of there, from Cape Coral up to Bradenton.

    Bed bugs on American airlines

In 25 years of traveling, I know of one case of bed bugs that happened to a team member. The hotel (one of the Sheraton brands at the time) was amazing. When he called, they immediately said "we will take care of this." They sent a driver to pick him with a liner on the seat, took him to the...

Unfair ridicule of Chem pilot work

Those who know don't talk. Those who talk don't know. Those switches should all be labeled "inop", with the double quotes on the tag. Right?

    Drones and privacy

Ran across an mildly interesting idea today on X - someone claiming that a Supreme Court case (United States v Causby) proves that someone cannot fly a drone over your house. Having briefly read the case, it occurs to me that it's a bad argument. Setting aside the politeness matter, is Causby...
