Personal Locator Beacon - Still Relevant?

I lived in Idaho for eight years; always checked that box; never called out except for CAP.

Personal Locator Beacon - Still Relevant?

I still carry an ACR PLB, but the battery expired several years ago; hope it still works if I need it. Probably better off to buy a new one instead of sending this one in for a new battery (if available). Still relevant? Maybe not. I've flown for CAP for almost 40 years; things change. We...

Nothing to worry about. Medicare open enrollment is open; there will be plenty of material.

FFS. I need a new hobby.

Was the plane happy to see you? Or, was that a shaft in it's pocket?

    182 Vent Plugs?

I have used duct tape. However, isn't there a vent that provides cooling air for the avionics? I seem to remember doing this on a plane a long time ago and stuff on the panel got hot; but my memory..... Who's the EPA?:)

    Ipad on Cessna 182

I used to use a yoke mount (iPad gen 3) (C206); I put it on the right yoke and tilted it towards me. It worked ok but got to be too much trouble to take in/out (not my plane). Now I use a MyClip (who decided it was a good idea to start naming stuff MY....?). Also, if you ever use the iPad...

Why not just hop over and pick up a Horizon Q400 at KSEA? I hear they are just sitting on the ramp.

    David Clark H10-13.4 ANR

My first ANR was a H10-30 with a conversion kit; it was hardly any better than one with out a conversion. Now I fly with a Lightspeed. Do your ears a favor and get a good ANR.

    Done . . .

Dave, our prayers are with you. I have not been around the forum very long, but have enjoyed your company. I’m not going to tell you this can be beat; way above my pay grade. I will tell you I had a rare, bad cancer in ’98, radiation treatment to the head. It came back in ’02 and had a second...

    Military Helo Rotorwash

I’m not opposed to military training. Many years ago, I participated in a DEA exercise where I was a simulated target. A Blackhawk, vectored by a Citation, was following me to a remote airstrip; I was not supposed to know he was there. After I touched down and slowed, the Blackhawk landed in...

    Military Helo Rotorwash

You are way more tolerant than I would be, or maybe I'm missing something you can explain. I would be very upset if I needed to land at a public use airport and the military had closed the airport for "practice"; without a notam. Does the FAA have anything to say about this?

    DPE PPL price

I don't see how being a "repeat offender" is related to the date of check ride. I took my check ride 3+ decades (since we are counting in decades) ago and have been instructing since then. In that time, I have had one student that had to go back. On the other hand, I know of an instructor that...
