Is it OK to participate even though I'm not a pilot?

Thank you! I'll ask at the flying club's next meeting. I haven't taken any medications other than Claritin and Ibuprofen since I needed antibiotics for an ear infection in kindergarten, and no diagnoses of ongoing conditions other than astigmatism and myopia that are correctable with glasses...

Any feedback on my altimeter practice site?

Unfortunately I don't have a Mac to test on. Could you please send a screenshot of what it does on Safari?

In the new settings, you can set a margin for error. You can change the min and max altitudes in settings now, and it does support negative altitudes. That's also an option now.

Any feedback on my altimeter practice site?

That's a good idea! I'll add it in my settings. It's for practicing how to read altimeters. I imagine it's harder to read an altimeter in a plane than on a computer or phone on the ground? It's quite feasible to read in 10 foot increments; I can do it quite reliably now after some practice on...

Any feedback on my altimeter practice site?

Thanks for the suggestion! I am going to add that as well. So far that's my most popular feature request; someone on another site already mentioned that :)

Any feedback on my altimeter practice site?

Exactly. It chooses a random altitude from 0 to 18,000 feet in ten foot increments, and you enter what it shows into the box. It does go in ten foot increments, and there is no margin of error allowed. I'm planning to add some settings to it; I'll add the ability to give some margin.

Any feedback on my altimeter practice site?

You read the altitude it's showing. It picks a random one each time so you can't just memorize the altitudes it gives.

Any feedback on my altimeter practice site?

Do you think going in larger increments would help? Maybe 20 or 100 feet? It wouldn't be hard to make it configurable by the user.

Any feedback on my altimeter practice site?

There's a text box below it. You read the altimeter, enter the altitude in the box, then hit Enter or click OK.

Thank you! I am planning to go to the Brookings Flying Club meeting next month, and I'll ask then.

Any feedback on my altimeter practice site?

Hello! I'm not sure if this is the right forum; please let me know if there's a different one where this would be more on-topic. I wrote a simple program to practice reading analog altimeters: https://kj7rrv.com/altimeter-practice/ Does anyone have any suggestions for improvements?

Is it OK to participate even though I'm not a pilot?

There were two messages from the same user that I received as emails, but I don't see them here. Do messages sometimes take a while to appear here?

Is it OK to participate even though I'm not a pilot?

Sure! I based it on a design that another FlightGear user came up with, but with a few changes. https://wiki.flightgear.org/Howto:Build_a_yoke_in_5_minutes#KJ7RRV.27s_version

Is it OK to participate even though I'm not a pilot?

It doesn't look like there's a CAP squadron near us either. Thank you for the suggestion, though!

I'm in Brookings, Oregon, a small town on the coast.

Is it OK to participate even though I'm not a pilot?

Thank you for the suggestion! I checked and there is no EAA chapter near us. I'm not sure how those flights work; if we're going to be traveling somewhere with a chapter, would it be possible to schedule a flight for while we're in the area?

Is it OK to participate even though I'm not a pilot?

Hi! I'm 16 years old. I would like to be a pilot in the future, although I'm not planning to fly as a career. Because of cost, I probably won't start training until some point after college. For now, I have FlightGear on my computer; I've built a yoke for it and I'm working on rudder/brake...

I'm an aviation enthusiast, but not a pilot (yet :)). Is it OK to be here?
