    DOGE and the FAA

Might be a good idea to get out in front of thIngs and make your own recommendations for cuts. Or would that be a conflict of interest?

    It's official... BasicMed expanded

How does US CBP handle that when you're using Basic Med, such as returning from the Bahamas or from Mexico? Or for people flying under SP rules? Is a US driver's license accepted in lieu of a medical certificate?

So, student pilots.. Who are we and where do we stand?

In the long run it’ll be a good thing. A fresh motor that I can trust.

Maybe, but around here they are building strip shopping centers like crazy. Someday, somebody will get the brilliant idea of connecting several strips together and putting a roof over the whole thing.....

Southwest Airliner Hit by Gunfire in Dallas 11/15/24

This is true, but in many areas community colleges have become state colleges and started offering 4-year degrees for much less than the state universities charge. It's a limited set of degrees, mostly career focused, but these colleges aren't offering housing, don't have football stadiums...

Why not save a little money and just go to a bait shop? I'm not sure that's even a recent thing. I was at my doctor's office yesterday and the nurse asked how I was enjoying retirement. She's in her mid 50s, so as we talked I asked if she was starting to make retirement plans. She...

Back in the day, the malls always had some activity happening to draw in customers. A local orchestra or a choir doing Christmas music, a weekend car show, an arts & crafts fair, tasting parties by local restaurants, celebrity autographs, book signings, pet shows, etc., etc. None of the local...

A good point. Given the near impossibility of cutting entitlement spending, the question must become how best to accelerate GDP growth.

I find this extraordinary: the CEO is also the test pilot

"In those early days, the Chief Engineer was almost always the Chief Pilot as well. This had the automatic result of eliminating poor engineering very early in aviation." - Igor Sikorsky https://sikorskyarchives.com/home/igor-sikorsky/inspiring_quotations/

I agree with this... ...but regarding... ...I have to say that failing seven consecutive audits and being unable to account for almost a trillion dollars is most certainly NOT a reasonable balance of mission and cost control. We are not presently in a war, and a "damn the torpedoes, spend...

Why do we switch fuel tanks before landing?

Do they ever land them in a crosswind?

Why do we switch fuel tanks before landing?

It’s not uncommon to slip the plane during landing, and a tank low on fuel may unport during uncoordinated flight. The fuller tank has less chance of unporting. Does it matter when both tanks have a lot of fuel? No. But it’s a good habit.
