Very nice of you, thank you. We might try to get a bit farther south on the first leg. Appreciate all your kind offers.

Can I really afford a Bonanza / Debonair??

Started flying a Bo recently. Not sure how I’ll ever go back.

    Anyone use GDL50 and FPG?

Paid that price and got overnight shipping from Amazon. Have a big trip coming up so not much time to shop around.

Well I just ordered one so we'll see how it goes!

    VA airport recommendations

You guys got me all excited. I'll be going next Wednesday, weather cooperating. Would love to have a restaurant on site so we don't have to take the kid somewhere.

    VA airport recommendations

Awesome. Thank you. We are traveling with an infant so just looking for lunch and to give her a break after a few hours. Im happy to avoid a class D and the associated shenanigans if I can.

    VA airport recommendations

I’m planning a flight from MA to GA with a pit stop in VA. Anyone have a recommendation for a nice airport on the western edge of VA, maybe around Lynchburg or Charlottesville that has nice facilities and a restaurant? Would like at least 2,500 ft if the approaches are somewhat clear.

    Anyone use GDL50 and FPG?

Now that I have my IFR, would be nice to have an instrument backup, and I’m about to do my first true cross country, so I really want weather. Anyone use the Garmin GDL 50 with Flight Plan Go? Thinking since Garmin owns FPG maybe there’s a better change of them being simpatico.

They are great, honest little planes!

    Ugly aircraft

I’m pretty sure I married my wife because her grandfather was a Mosquito pilot. He wished he’d had a chance to fly the Hornet. And the Comet racer is one of my favorite planes of all time.

Who ya gonna call? clearance delivery...

When is the main number going away? Just checked the AFD for 1B9 and didn’t see any number listed.

    Help me buy a 182

Find another. My mechanic refuses to do prebuys for another on a plane he maintains due to conflict of interest. I wanted a citabria a few years ago and an older one with new engine, cover, and metal structure wings was around $40k. Now they are $60-70 in just a couple years. That’s insane.

    Saturday suggestion?

Chatham, Block Island? Both have good food options and nice scenery for running.

    ADS-B by 2020?

My buddy just got a quote for a wingtip system in his warrior for under $3k. I agree, can’t see flying in New England near Boston without it, but I happen to fly near busy areas.

Need a Pre Buy in New England

Jim Casey maintained my plane and is great. He is very thorough, honest, and fair. I'll bet you a dollar if you ask if there is corrosion he says "Of course there is, it is decades old!" But will then go on to explain the types he finds, if it is a concern, remove, treat, run, ignore, etc...

RAIM Prediction Test Non WAAS GPS

If the gps is not waas you need to do a raim prediction. The gos has a function to check, there are online resources, and maybe Flight service can check for you.

    Thoughts on a Cherokee 140 as a learner & 1st plane

I loved training in Cherokee 140s, and wouldn't hesitate to own one. You'll probably notice a big difference between summer and winter climb rate; my Cessna 172 with 145hp would climb almost 1000 fpm winter and 500 summer. But with you and your pup you should always be fine except for very...

    Grounded-Start studying for IFR?

Read the free pubs, study with Shephard Air, then take the written. It is good for two years I think. Might as well get something done while you are stuck on the ground.
