    Some Colorado Springs aviation history

So Jane Russell is standing next to Mitchum, and Ann Blyth is behind them on the stairs, correct? I used to get down to KCOS a lot, and wish I knew some of the history then. Thanks OP!

We'be heard of the old truck gun, what about plane gun?

That is actually a really wise choice, and all good points.

Is that a Draganov Tigr? That's a beauty.

I would lean towards .22 also. Ruger makes a takedown version of the 10/22 that comes with a carrying case I believe. Be familiar with the firearm laws of each state where you land, or fly over.

We'be heard of the old truck gun, what about plane gun?

Well, I have been know to have a few Russian SKS's, Makarovs from several different countries, and an M44 Carbine that lights up the range with its muzzle blast. :)

I am a huge CZ fan, so the CZ would be my choice. I might opt for 527 in .223 however since they changed the barrel twist to 1/9 from 1/12. It allows heavier bullets now. The 7.62x39 is also a good round as you state. Probably better for larger game. Many compare it to the .30-30 round in...

Chris Cornell Died of Apparent Suicide

Wow, not many front men left from that era/genre of rock. Curt Cobain, Lane Staley, Scott Weiland, now this guy. Too bad. RIP.

    MU-2 Missing near Bahama's

When I lived in Colorado two went down in the span of a relatively short time in 2005, if memory serves. Both were based at my airport, and operated from a hangar across from mine. I believe that's where the SFAR requirement came from.

First real cross country with the family

My first thought was "can you leave the kids at home for this one". :) Great advice so far, if you do go to the Black Hill someday use KCUT. I've had great experiences there. Remember, your DA calculations, especially in a 172 at gross, and you'll be fine.

    To all my friends...

That's a great list Bill, and Ted's log is very interesting also. I started riding dirt bikes at 11 y.o. and progressed up the food chain for several years, and then gave it up when I started flying. I do miss it, but I don't miss the shenanigans from care, and truck drivers. My small list...

    Mooney (what's wrong)

There are a lot of planes flying that aren't factory supported. That doesn't worry me so much as the entry cost, and then the value dropping so quickly. Unless you are made of money, it doesn't make any sense to buy new.

    Another crash :(

I live in Lexington, KY for several years so fly into Rough River, and even Hopkinsville on occasion. Had my maintenance done at KOWB also. That is sad. For some reasons, these hit closer to home when they happen in areas we know, or have lived.

    Rotting Planes. Sad.

Interesting. I looked up the plane's tail number in POST #37, the one that seemed a bit different, and yes it is! N4619V, 1977 Varga 2150A Kachina, C/N: VAC-84-77

    What is this car called?

Thanks Sac. That makes sense. So the Corvair was s competitor of the 356/911 series? That's interesting. I know a little about the history of the Bug, as I mentioned in another thread my parents lived in post war Germany 1945 - 1948, and were going to bring an early Bug home with them, (cost...

    What is this car called?

Agreed! I never had either car, but from the outside the Corvair seemed to be a better performer overall. Wasn't the impetus for GM to produce a rear engine, air cooled car the VW Beetle? I always assumed that, but could be wrong. If not, I wonder why they went down that road (pun intended)?

    What is this car called?

I always liked Corvairs, and still saw some of them as commuter cars on the road well into the 90's. I always thought it was GM's answer to the bug, but maybe that is not really true.

    Rotting Planes. Sad.

I don't understand why this happens, but have a few theories. Some people may just like to say "I have an airplane", and just pay the tiedown or hangar costs thinking someday they may fly it again. They kick the can down the road for so many years, eventually the plane becomes un-flyable, and...

    Howdy, y'all

The F-5 Tiger, and Tiger II are one of my favorite jets. Very under rated, but they look like a hoot to fly. I assume it is a derivative of the T-38, or visa versa. Sorry you had to eject, get injured, and lose a friend. :(
