    Rich mans game

I don't know, but Mr. Spock's "Teddy Bear" had six inch fangs.

I never said they were sold to be eaten by humans, just sold. I believe they are processed into feed or some such.

    In-flight Emergencies/Close calls fairly routine?

I had a Comm failure in NYC Class B in my first plane, a Cherokee. I could receive but couldn't transmit, so I squawked 7600, and ATC knew my predicament. My handheld didn't have the range to get to ATC, but an airliner relayed my message. Non event. I had two total electrical failures in my...

    Rich mans game

I guess any meat processing plants are pretty gross. I don't need to know about it. However, what James does is totally different. The chickens lay eggs, and when their egg laying lifecycle is up they get sold to the meat processors. It looks like a pretty clean environment to me.

    Bicycle Friendly Airports?

Mid-State Airport, KPSB in Phillipsburg, PA is adjacent to Black Moshannon State Park. You can walk or ride your bike there, and there's lots of trails. There's a lake there also.

    Rich mans game

I hear ya. Out of grad school I worked in state government in Economic Development work. My salary wasn't that great, but the benefits, vacation, and sick time were. Also, I was able to travel internationally on business. Did that for about five years. But, I just had to get into the...

    my grumman (finally)

I have no ideas what 10 years down the road looks like. All I know is there seems to be pretty good support for these planes. I had good support for my Tiger, but forever is a long time.

Has anybody had or known somebody who had a elevator/stabilator cable snap in flight?

Grummans have a combination of pushrods, and cables, but yes a cable can break and you can loose control surface control. Study your systems now that you own one. I had an experience A&P/IA over tighten my elevator cable. I felt it on the test flight in the pattern. The pitch control was...

    my grumman (finally)

That's pretty much a good part of the "Who's Who" of the Grumman community. All top notch.

    When was your first scare?

This happened in 1994, and that FBO is long gone.

    When was your first scare?

I guess I had about 25 hours, and was flying in the practice area solo doing slow flight, and stalls, clean and dirty. I noticed the C-152 I was training in was out of rig because I had to keep in left rudder to keep the ball centered in straight and level flight. Well, I let it get...

Ted Cruz proposes new medical regs on balloon pilots

There is a balloon operator about two miles away from me. They landed in my backyard once, and not on purpose. They came close to colliding with my house. If you ever want to really wake up, have the burner go off right outside one of your open windows. And yes I got a bottle of bubbly...

    Cleaning the smashed bugs off

I've used Wash Wax all for many years, so I do like it. I use two rags (or sometimes more), a "wet" one, and a "dry" one. I apply with the wet, and wipe off with the dry. By using the dry rag, I get rid of any streaking.

    my grumman (finally)

Congrats!!! That is heck of a nice looking AA5! I don't have to tell you what I think of Grummans. :)

    To all my friends...

I sold my bikes when I started flying many years ago. I have thought about getting back into it from time to time only to chicken out. Yes, I am that scared of distracted drivers, or just bad drivers in general.

For Sale Anyone looking for a GOAT?

I must be getting old because, I actually like the new Corvette, plus they won't kill you with maintenance. A used exotic, like a Ferrari, will eat your breakfast, lunch, dinner, midnight snack, etc with maintenance.

    What is this aircraft?

The media got it right for once. They said it was an "AK-47".
