    BasicMed with a Heart Ablation

Does anyone know of a situation where the FAA has taken certificate action on a pilot for flying with a medical condition that would make that person "unable to operate in a safe manner"? That's a totally different situation than being "unable to meet the requirements for the medical...

    Possible shingles

Thanks. The bigger issue is allowing yourself to focus on your own health and worry about the FAA when the dust settles. When I had two focal/aware "partial" seizures last month it briefly occurred to me that if I didn't disclose that to ANYONE I could just see how it went for a while and...

    Possible shingles

I had shingles, thought it was a kidney stone, went through an MRI to rule that out, and found out that even though it was shingles causing the pain it also disclosed prostate cancer. I underwent radical prostatectomy and remain cancer free (from that) 17 years later. Shingles was my friend. :)

Did not know about ADHD restrictions when I got my medical. What do I do?

That's insulting to those of us that HAVE had deferrals and HAVE played by the rules. Not only that I'm on Basic Med now and still self-grounding (forever) because I'm following the regulations

Did not know about ADHD restrictions when I got my medical. What do I do?

It's an odds bet. Your risk of getting caught for lying is low, but the odds of being caught for lying go way up when there's an accident or incident that opens the door for a closer FAA examination. When that does happen you're doomed, expecially in a revenue pilot situation. And don't...

    Controlled Airspace Apprehensions, VFR

I have a good friend who is a tower/approach controller at an airport in Class C airspace. He still uses "student pilot" at unfamiliar airports. It doesn't have to be on your certificate, and apparently no one really cares if it isn't. :)

May Ethan Zuckerman expire and decay in Hades.

It must be riddle time. I'm too busy to try playing . . .

    Private Sale or Broker?

Good point, and I'll need to look into that as well. I'm now the sole shareholder of the stock in a Corporation that owns the plane (formed prior to the LLC option) which was used to share responsibility for ownership status of the aircraft. My shares are held in the name of my revocable...

    Private Sale or Broker?

My daughter is an accountant with a law degree (although she's not allowed to combine them professionally without additional credentials). That's been a big help to me in this process so far.

    Private Sale or Broker?

Good advice, but none of the heirs will fly it and it's not of much real sentimental value. I've made an effort to keep it from sitting unused, but that may not happen if it's in the estate for very long

    Private Sale or Broker?

Haha. It's 225 and has ample power to cruise at interstate speed with both my wife and me. It's a wonderful machine in that respect and weighs less than the 250 Ducati that we took on our first long trip (to Alaska). Loaded in the airplane with all sorts of other baggage we were 300 or more...

    Private Sale or Broker?

Thanks. All of those thoughts have been on my mind. One hooker is capital gains, largely due to inflation even though we also made substantial capital improvements. But even the capital gain isn't all that much money. Sadly the perfect sale would be to have everything set to go and have my...

    Private Sale or Broker?

Here's an UPDATE and question: As I've posted on another thread, it turns out that I have a gliobastoma, which carries a bad prognosis and my selling of the C206 has become more "urgent". I've had a lot of inquiries via Facebook and have a bona fide offer of $225,000 for it as a quick deal...

    Dan Gryder Lockheed Electra Crash

When you look closely as the tailwheel first hits the gound, it comes off the ground for a second or two while it rotates into a left turning configuration, then the aircraft immediately turns to the left, which seems to initiate a ground loop that was likely halted early by the impact with a...

    Controlled Airspace Apprehensions, VFR

Also, work on a compass view everywhere you go, i.e. "I'm heading north. How would I approach runway xx?" It's a good mental exercise.

    Controlled Airspace Apprehensions, VFR

Yoy'll notice in the responses so far how easy it is for the people responding. It will be for you as well. You're just in a little bit of a "transition" period. Attack it head on. Head for class B, C and D airspace, with an instructor if you like. Always use flight following so you are...

    Done . . .

Thanks. My logic for openly sharing is simple. Avoid dealing with a group of friends where some know exactly what's going on and some others know bits and pieces and even some others know nothing at all.

    Dan Gryder Lockheed Electra Crash

It's hard to do what may be the only thing that can sometimes pull you out of that predicament - i.e. adding power (especially true if you're heading right) and creating some more effectiveness of the contol surfaces. The closest I ever came to ground looping was that situation, well after...

Don't waste everyone's time illustrating my point.
