Who or what flights qualify for FF?

Just remember that Flight Following is voluntary, obviously for the pilot but sometimes the controller will be unable to provide the service and you should always have a back up plan knowing that's the case.

Who or what flights qualify for FF?

I used flight following most of the time in Alaska, filing VFR flight plans the old fashioned way. Flying in mostly deep valleys prohibits radar coverage and it's also one place where you'd like to be found in a reasonable time if you don't arrive at your destination. I remember when there...

    Class D trip yesterday

Controllers will almost always prefer to clearly know your intentions without having to ask for them. You can usually do that quickly with very few words one the controller has alread been handling you. For instance when he says "cleared to land" just read back "cleared to land, departing to...

    Best prep for IPC?

I don't see any problem with just hiring an instructor to get you proficient and when you are proficient get signed off, presuming that all of the elements were completed. Am I missing something that says those have to be done separately?

I've posted this before, but here's what to say next time.

    Done . . .

The smart patient and the smart doctor will read the link that Piperonca posted above and realize that pharmacy benefit managers are making millions by keeping people from paying out of pocket for drugs that are horribly inflated in cost through third party handlers but are relatively...

    Nosewheel ground loop?

... and immediately traded that in for an Ercoupe. ;)

    Nosewheel ground loop?

An overreaction to a brief cross wind from the left will cause that to happen. The nosewheel contact with the pavement turns the plane to the right and causes the left wing to drop. The CG "rolls over the nosewheel and left main" and causes the left wing low, tail high, nosewheel overload and...

    Commercial License Question

It's amazing how often you "kind of" know the regulation but need to check it before putting your foot in your mouth. And sometimes the regulations quietly change.

    Commercial License Question

I took my commerical check ride in Henderson, NV, years ago not because I needed it but because I had a few days to kill and had won a little extra money playing blackjack. I had over 3000 hours by then but needed a few flights to meet the requirements, most in the dual cross-country training...

    Commercial License Question

An applicant should review the requirments with a fine-toothed comb, ideally with a CFI that is familiar with the examiner's style of examination. There are a lot of specifics in the requirments that have some "gotchas" for which examiners can fail an applicant without ever getting into the...

    Done . . .

Funny story. On another forum a friend asked if I had applied for the Master Pilot Award, which represents flying for 50 years. I looked back at my logs and I'm a few months short, although I'm pretty sure if I log PIC next month I would qualify for that distinction. I dug out my first log...

Pvt Pilot as Passenger local day Part 91 Sightseeing Flt (not 135). Gets to fly and logs it all PIC?

And it's negligent and borderline criminal when you apply those requirements in lieu of ACS standards. It's not a "standard" when you make it up entirely on subjective reasoning, which that is.

Pvt Pilot as Passenger local day Part 91 Sightseeing Flt (not 135). Gets to fly and logs it all PIC?

LOL. You are too funny. You post a bunch of statements that don't make sense to educated pilots, then you profess that you are done with this thread. I only threw out the lure to prove that you were wrong about that, too. :) I actually saved your own words, because so many people who are...

I don't blame the OP for pouting out of the room. When you blatantly make so many false statements while at the same time thumping your chest about your credentials, what else can you do? (BTW, he's probably just outside the room, still eavesdropping on the conversation.)

Pvt Pilot as Passenger local day Part 91 Sightseeing Flt (not 135). Gets to fly and logs it all PIC?

His post was, "This is a commercial sight seeing within 50nm of airport, day vfr." so it's not completely clear, but I did quite a few sightseeing flights under 91.147 and was very careful to stay within the 25 statute miles of the airport. I may have been overly cautious but I always worried...

Pvt Pilot as Passenger local day Part 91 Sightseeing Flt (not 135). Gets to fly and logs it all PIC?

The only hooker I see in that is thefact that this was a 50 mile sighteeing flight. Part 91.147 limits the flight to a 25 statute mile radius from the point of departure, which has to be the same as the point of return landing. So the flight as described can't be legally flown under Part 91...

Pvt Pilot as Passenger local day Part 91 Sightseeing Flt (not 135). Gets to fly and logs it all PIC?

Pesonally, this is the only part I would have to investigate. Can a private pilot be sole manipulator of the controls for a commercial flight? If the acting PIC is not instructing and the private pilot is sole manipulator of the controls during a commercial operation can they BOTH log PIC?
