    Grounded for not talking

I wouldn't admit that to the FAA, unless you do some paperwork before hand. Think inoperative installed equipment.

    Done . . .

Thanks for asking and thanks for pulling. I finished radiation and chemo a week ago and have just started to feel better a day or two ago. Despite being forced to eat I lost about 20 pounds, but some food has finally become appealing again as the nausea subsides. I'm thankful that I didn't...

First class medical with two DUI’s

I'd plan on two years even if you are squeaky clean now.

    Opinion on Plane Purchase

I've had three or four alternator failures, one of which was just about to enter IMC at night with an emergency turn right back to Portland, Maine, which was otherwise uneventful except I lost radio contact on the taxiway. My most recent was this past November over Wilkes Barre in easy VFR...

    Opinion on Plane Purchase

I've always wondered about that. What happens when you have an alternator failure in IMC? Your iPad can used for navigation, but you quickly lose communication (ask me how I know) and if your attitude information is electronic you lose that too.

    Opinion on Plane Purchase

My broker now has this C206 (an "oversized C182) listed on various sites like Trade-a-Plane. It's been a great plane for 40 years which I had planned to fly a lot longer until I developed seizures that grounded me for life (even under Basic Med). It's a little overdone avionically, but that was...

[NA] Looking for an entrepreneur . . .

Completely true, plus you need a larger radius of three blades to produce the same stability of four blades.

I don't know whom you offended, but it certainly wasn't me.

[NA] Looking for an entrepreneur . . .

I'm well aware of that device, which was patented about 10 years ago (and that I had seen in the patent search) but their web site apparently was started after I had already started working on mine, so I figured "why not?" It's been fun to develop and I think would be superior to the table jack...

[NA] Looking for an entrepreneur . . .

I've been working on the royalties option all along but haven't found the right avenue(s) yet. The patent itself may end up being passed to my heirs to see if they can find a way.

The device makes it unnecessary to adjust any of the other feet. It's sufficient to have the wedge be capable to move the height of its own leg go above or below the plane for the other three legs. In rare situations if that range is exceeded, you might need to adjust one of the other glides...

[NA] Looking for an entrepreneur . . .

Here's what I have at this point. The attorney has been notified that it has been accepted and the formal patent number will be issued shortly. I don't know if any of these other numbers access the application or not. I should have the patent number very soon.

[NA] Looking for an entrepreneur . . .

I'll try to upload the video some other way. It's 111 Mb and too large to upload here. Right now I'm too mentally and physically exhausted waiting for side effects of radiation/chemo to wear off, which they say will still take a few weeks. I've looked for an avenue to a list of table...

[NA] Looking for an entrepreneur . . .

I've been working on a patent for a year and a half which has been finalized by the USPTO. I wanted to be sure it would be approved before I shared it with anyone, as the concept could have more easily have been infringed upon while it was in the "pending" stage. The next phase is engineering...

Tailwheel time...does it matter what its in?

Your son has a long way to go with that goal in mind, not even including the possibility that he's chasing a potentially changing target, as those requirements may change over the time it takes to reach the present ones.

91.126(b)(1) - Yes, Virginia, it is regulatory.

Thanks an excellent reason for the FAA to use "non-towered", which is a descriptive term that's hard to argue what it means.

Another way to look at the numbers is "midair collisions in cruise phase of flight". I recall that number to be low compared to phases that involve climbing or descending, but I don't have the figures.

    Had a close call today...

See and avoid, of course, is more effective the closer the two aircraft get. I wonder how many "near miss" encounters were actually resolved by see and avoid just in time . . .

Buying my first airplane and have couple of concerns

OP stated it was a prop strike. That's usually a freebie that gives the owner an oportunity to replace "serviceable" parts with new parts at a favorable expense, considering that in most cases insurance is paying for removal, disassembly, inspection, reassembly and reinstallation, plus round...

Yeah, that's especially true with a low-wing aircraft in a left hand pattern. You're blocking your view as you climb up to the pattern and can't see traffic approaching on the downwind.
