How can a pilot "forget" to put down gear in C510?

I posted it back on page 1: The warning/caution advisory system provides a landing gear aural warning if one or more gear are not locked down and either of the following situations occurs: 1) One or both throttles are retarded below approximately 85% N2 and airspeed is below 130 KIAS. Pressing...

    TKS questions

What Mauleskinner said - Cirrus recommends running it enough to wet out all the panels monthly (although I’ve gone 2-3 months at times and they seemed ok). The fluid also does have an expiration date of around 2 years IIRC but not super clear what happens when it expires.

How can a pilot "forget" to put down gear in C510?

I know Tantalum in real life and he is definitely NOT that kind of person. Those people suck a lot.

How can a pilot "forget" to put down gear in C510?

I'll have to double check next time I fly but I think the gear horn sounds through the intercom also in the Mustang. Either way, it is very noticeable even when wearing Bose A20s or ProFlight headsets (I have and use both) with ANR on.

How can a pilot "forget" to put down gear in C510?

In the Mustang you can put the gear down at any speed below the barber pole (250KIAS)

How can a pilot "forget" to put down gear in C510?

Exactly - typical Vref on the C510 is around 85-95 KIAS

How can a pilot "forget" to put down gear in C510?

That’s so far off profile for that airplane that the gear seems like a minor omission in the bigger picture… unless he was on fire or mid stroke, I can’t explain this one.

How can a pilot "forget" to put down gear in C510?

Not in this market... These planes are selling for 30+% more than a year ago and do not last on the market.

How can a pilot "forget" to put down gear in C510?

No but if you are attempting to land it at nearly twice normal landing speed with no flaps, I think you’re really trying to crash the plane, not land it… This is a straight wing citation with a very low stall speed - no one should be screaming in at 130+ KIAS to the runway even if you have a...

    30% increase in flying cost.

…could be worse - my rental rate increased by $200 per hour (“by” not “to”) and that’s a dry rate so I get it on the fuel side too.

How can a pilot "forget" to put down gear in C510?

A few corrections - the C510 is what I fly. In the C510, you do not get a master warning or caution light (or CAS message - which is the G1000's version of the Caution, Warning and Advisory panel). Under the conditions I showed above, you get an annoying gear warning sound which can be inhibited...

How can a pilot "forget" to put down gear in C510?

Pilot claims he was doing a flaps up landing (which doesn’t make a ton of sense) and the horn didn’t sound…. But he either tried to land at over 130 KIAS or he ignored/inhibited the horn also. It is very weird. Although I will say that during training, you hear that horn a lot and it’s pretty...

How long it took you to fly with your loved ones?

Same - dad was first. I was only 17 at the time but I guess I had him (and the rest of my family - because I took up many others) pretty well convinced that I was safe. I took up a few friends and girlfriends too when still in HS (many more in college) but there was definitely some...

As the price of gas at the pump skyrockets

Can we please see entry level jet prices come down a bit? I need to buy something and the prices have just been ridiculous!

    Rental Pilot vs. Ownership

My favorite photo you took of that plane was this one.. My wife even had this one framed!

    Rental Pilot vs. Ownership

It's definitely a unique program and not something you will find at every flight school. The company is Aero City Jets and they have 5-6 Mustangs (C510s) an M2, and a CJ3+. I have not flown the CJ3+ and mostly I started with the Mustangs but I am flying the M2 more these days. But it basically...

    Rental Pilot vs. Ownership

Interestingly during that period where you dry leased my plane, I was the owner and you the renter but you probably flew it 2x as much as I did. So while it's true that in general you fly more as an owner than a renter, It's also clearly mission fit dependent! When my wife and I didn't have kids...

Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio (minor thinking)

Congrats Ted - hope you enjoy it! The reason for us (my wife has a Cayenne) is because while I like to drive sports cars (all of "my" cars are sports cars), sometimes we take the Cayenne when we all go somewhere as a family and I enjoy driving it more than I would a non-sporty SUV or sedan -...
