Plane crash at Butler County Airport OH KHAO

I agree 29 is not the best option for an issue on takeoff. I took my youngest son flying the other day, and was saying just that very thing.

    Flying vs. Flying a plane.

I think in the Ercoupe it is always flying, but best with the windows down. Open cockpit in a Ercoupe is some much fun.

RC Airplanes At Our Airport - Thoughts

Oddly enough drones and R/C aiplanes/Helicopters are classified differently. Now if they are using the R/C stuff with video cameras, then they may fall under the Drone Category. Either way If they don't have their 107 commercial they are not to by flying within 5 miles of an airport. With a...

RC Airplanes At Our Airport - Thoughts

Unless I am mistaken, and well it happens often. You can only fly at an airport with permission from the airport. But here is more info: https://aviation.stackexchange.com/questions/2850/where-is-rc-aircraft-flying-allowed-in-the-us

Southern California to Mid-Atlantic in an Ercoupe

@Chesapeaketechie I haven't had much issues with distance, 90% of the airports I have landed at have been long runways and Here in Ohio I haven't seen Density Altitude that was bad, maybe 2000 ft DA.

Southern California to Mid-Atlantic in an Ercoupe

I have and Ercoupe with a C85 with 0-200 crank and such, I get around 2.5 hours off of the main tanks then it starts using the header tank. I also get very good climb rates, at least in August in Ohio I was getting around 800 fpm climb with just me in the plane. Of course with more engine...

wrong place to turn around a point?

I do recall you teaching turns around the tool box... or something along those lines. As far as the issue goes, from what I was told this morning there were 4 or 5 police cars at the airport when he landed. Someone called him in as a suicidal pilot with plans to crash into the school (per...

    ipad / ADS-B in / Stratux

I am sure you know this, but Altitude reporting will still be based on 29.92 for barometric pressure i.e. not Density Altitude. It would be nice to add that though.
