What makes grass cutting better or worse?

Self quoting seems like a bit of a faux pas but I hope you’ll allow it. Today, I will get to smell both: I’m at Sonoma at the track all morning/early PM and then headed to the airport to fly the Mustang to Missouri. Sure beats going to the office!!

What makes grass cutting better or worse?

The two smells I like most are jet exhaust smell and heated brake pads… they remind me of my happy places (airports and race tracks)

Half Moon Bay: Off Airport Restaurants

There are a bunch of spots in Princeton (part of Half Moon Bay). I have never tried to walk it but it is right next to the south airport fence. I'd guess a ~10 min walk into Princeton but someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

    Flying is Fun!

As someone who always wanted to fly since age 3-4 and strongly considered flying professionally but decided not to because the pay ceiling was too limited, this whole thought process doesn't really compute... But then again, there are a lot of popular things I just can't understand - like people...

I understand it, I just don't get it...

This. If I drive by Alice’s Restaurant in Woodside on a weekend, there is almost always some people taking pics and videos. I’m not on social media (instagram, tic toc, etc) but I bet that’s where they end up.

Dumb questions from someone who doesn't fly... but writes about it.

Im not one of those people who has the FARs memorized but it’s whichever one the Red Bull plane swap guys got busted for. Edit: Dana beat me to it.

Dumb questions from someone who doesn't fly... but writes about it.

It would be a) illegal b) not very safe but people do worse things some times c) definitely possible with autopilot. Whether a and b are worth it would depend on other factors in a fiction story...

Ever have a nightmare about flying?

The only flying “nightmares” I have had have been weird logistical issues - eg somehow left the plane stranded in the Bahamas (not sure how I got back) or realizing I’m supposed to be at an event in 3 hours 2000 miles away and I haven’t even packed yet.

    TN or NA

I had an NA SR22 and then a TN SR22. The TN was definitely worth it for me in terms of extra speed but more importantly, flexibility for weather and winds. On weather, it was particularly useful for icing avoidance. The plane was FIKI but you still only use the ice protection to get through the...

The Ted Race Team: Because Racecar

I haven't read the whole thread but what are you racing in (series wise)? I hadn't been to a track in a while and took my GT3 to one a couple weeks ago... Slippery slope, thinking about a GT3 Cup car now...

    GA sucks, and also doesn't.

Holy crap! That’s quite a misadventure! Sorry you had to go through that. It’ll be a fun one to retell at some point in the future. I had an (airline) trip back from Shanghai to the US about 10-12 years ago that is almost funny now.

Advice on ANR headsets for passengers

This. My wife wears AirPods max in the plane because she wants to listen to music, watch movies, etc and she couldn’t care less about the piloty stuff. It’s quiet enough back there that a headset isn’t required anyway.
