    F104 departing controlled flight

I don't understand why the pilot was not able to recover with the use of the drogue chute. That seems like it should have worked very well. Can anyone explain why it went back into a spin afterwards?

    NOTAMs are ridiculous...

Don’t be ridiculous. This is the government we are talking about - simplicity and logic have nothing to do with it. Besides, we have already benefited from the major NOTAM improvement program of 2022 (which I’m sure involved multiple committees, untold MISSION-hours, and huge sums of taxpayer...

    Dear auto manufacturers.....[rant]

Too close to home… 2 weeks ago, one of the first gen adjustable dampers failed, last week I had a check engine light due to some issue with one of the MAFs (I managed to fix both issues at home DIY!) and as of today, the oil temp gauge is intermittent. I’ve never had it outright not run but I...

    Dear auto manufacturers.....[rant]

Older Ferraris have an incredibly loud and annoying constant tone beep when the driver's door is open with the ignition on.. So annoying and worse than most modern cars.

    Did not collide with Aeronca

I really love your attitude about it - 100% of the sharing information about a potential safety event and 0% silly drama!

US Sectionals have lost foreign detail

You can get Jepp North America charts through foreflight which include a VFR chart. Not very detailed but it works.

Why do you say the Trent series was a failure? According to Wikipedia it is a success: First run in August 1990 as the model Trent 700, the Trent has achieved significant commercial success, having been selected as the launch engine for all three of the 787 variants (Trent 1000), the A380 (Trent...

Lots of pre-Christmas aviation for me. Flew a long non-stop to the in-laws on Tuesday: Dropped off wife and kids and headed to Wichita to get tortured in the sim for 2 days for my 61.58 recurrent (and froze my butt off during this winter blizzard): And finally headed back to the in-laws...

    New Camera

I am a very bad amateur photographer but I am enjoying my R6 - I alternate between the RF50 F1.2 L (portraits/indoors) and the RF24-105 F4 L (outdoors, walk-around lens) and have been able to get some very decent pictures. I found it very easy to switch from DSLR to mirrorless and actually...

Another reason why new planes are so expensive

Scum… these types of attorneys (not just the aviation focused ones) should be shunned by society.

    Cirrus Vision Jet KMQJ

Lots of little annoyances and tweaking required but the real kicker was when the case cracked at <1000 hours. When I got that call from the A&P, I’d had enough and I sold it on the spot without ever seeing it again. I’m not a fan of continental motors or any antiquated GA pistons.

    Cirrus Vision Jet KMQJ

I owned a CAPS rebuilt SR22 and other than the horribly unreliable Continental powerplant (which was a new reman IO550 with TAT TN - not the original engine that was on the plane when the first owner ran out of fuel…) it was a great airplane.
