    Tall guy question!

I had not looked at values in a while and they do seem to have gone a little crazy but there are some in that general ballpark and I believe the market is getting softer. https://www.controller.com/listing/for-sale/224877607/2014-cirrus-sr22-g5-turbo-piston-single-aircraft...

    Tall guy question!

You might be able to make a Cirrus SR22 (G5 or better) work if your kids aren't too big and are willing to sit close. I am also 6'6" and there are a lot of planes that have too tight of a pilot seat for me (PA46 I'm looking at you). We only have 2 kids and they're small so don't have the pax...

    I guess I'm fast now

Many years ago, I was flying my Cirrus into Teterboro and was asked to slow down for a Citation X (definitely NOT a slowtation). Hilarity ensued... You have to listen to the end for the best part.

    I guess I'm fast now

It's all relative - we've all heard the "Slowtation" jokes but flying the slowest of Citations, I have gotten used to being called out as a slow mover to the big jets...

(Comfortably) Buying a plane without a prebuy?

+1 My first plane was 1 year old, less than 200 hours and was under warranty for a few years. I talked to the shop that had just done its first annual for 10-15 minutes, he told me it had no issues and I sent the money. Very easy purchase experience for a first timer.

    See You in Oshkosh 2023!

I’ll be there Saturday-Friday (22nd-28th) I’ll be parked and staying at Hilton Garden Inn - one of the three Citations on the ramp.

What makes a booth at OSH good?

Some big but quiet fans if you're in one of the exhibit hangars for when it gets hot. I very well may buy your widget if it isn't too expensive or completely irrelevant to me and I get to hang out in the fan breeze while trying to figure out where my friends have wandered off to...

What’s the fastest plane partnership you’ve ever heard of?

Yep. It's not really a club but there are several Mustangs, a CJ3+ and there used to be an M2 (which I miss a lot). https://aerocitygroup.com/aero-city-jets/

    Your Dumbest Benign Moment

Several years ago, my wife and I flew from our home base in NJ to Naples FL for Christmas with my parents. When unloading the plane on the ramp in Naples, I realized I had left my luggage in the hangar back in NJ. I'm 6'6" so it isn't easy for me to just buy off the rack clothing either...

Our favorite pilot demonstrates another unusual attitude

Wow - these videos are frightening now that I live and fly in the same general area... I don't think I have ever come close to as egregious a flight as what this guy considers normal in my 3000+ flight hours.

Wait time for a new cirrus

It’s kind of like getting a new car every 2 years for some people. The money isn’t a factor for him and he doesn’t want anything bigger/faster. So, feature upgrades, new plane smell and different color schemes mostly.

Wait time for a new cirrus

Cirrus ramped production way up in 2006-2008 and hired a whole bunch of people to produce 800+ airplanes per year (IIRC) and then got burned pretty bad when the 2008 recession hit and demand fell off a cliff. I can't blame them for being cautious with all the macro stuff swirling around right now.

Wait time for a new cirrus

I have a friend who buys a new SR22 ever couple of years or so and he got pretty fed up with the wait and delays on the latest one. I think there were some specific issues with his airplane but IIRC it was nearly a year delayed vs what they had told him (which already included a considerable wait).

Wait time for a new cirrus

It has been a year or more but that may be getting shorter now. No planes produced for stock

How short is too short of a flight?

I let my friend fly my cirrus once from KSEE to KMYF (7nm) to reposition the plane because I was based at MYF but when we got back from our trip, MYF was closed due to an air show at Miramar so we cooled our heels at the FBO at SEE until we could make the short hop back. We took off on on 27R...

Latest Transient Parking Situation at MYF (San Diego Montgomery)

You can park on the big transient ramp but there is a daily charge (don’t know what it is). I’d call CrownAir and ask about options with them and on the transient ramp - which may be the same thing. They are very nice at the front desk.

    Hangar space in LA area?

Seems like a weird plan. If it’s just for the plane to be stored for a year, it would be much easier and cheaper to find a hangar somewhere in the middle of the country (closer to OSH) than leaving it in LA. Even if it requires a couple of airline flights from hangar location to LA and back.
