"...pilot pressed a button 'no qualified pilot would' "

One of the fun things about upgrading to a jet is you get some more fun buttons you have to be careful with. Four that come to mind are “Cabin Dump” (guarded) “Engine Fire” (Guarded) and “Bottle Armed Push” (which requires engine fire to be pushed first) and the “Drop Masks” setting on the O2 control knob.

Plane purchase without a In person inspection

My friend just bought a phenom 100 unseen (well technically many of us have seen it at Oshkosh, it has a rather distinctive paint scheme). But jets on programs are a bit different than piston GA

    Rats are eating my Car

You develop it and I'll buy it. I'm doing heroic things for garage space here because I don't want to leave my cars outside and it's getting very complex and costly.

    'Conventional' gear.

    It's an F355. The 308 (and 328) have 5 forward gears.

    Aviation non-profit executive compensation.

Yes, if they are worth it. That's not a large amount for executive compensation.

Why don’t you fly rotor wing?

My two year old always points out airplanes and then verbally considers whether they are going to Mexico (our most recent family trip) or Missouri or Florida (two of our common family destinations). Helicopters (aka Hehcopters) don't seem to have a destination, but they are still worth pointing...

Really? I never wore a mask the week I was there.

[Na]Who is traveling internationally these days?

We just went to puerto vallarta last month (self flying not commercial). Painless both ways. No proof of vaccination (we are), negative test results or masks required at any point.

    Planes from Floor-Ree-Duh!

You’re supposed to do compressor washes frequently when a jet is flown near the ocean or coastal areas.

    Planes from Floor-Ree-Duh!

Jets are very sensitive to corrosion (can lead to very expensive engine issues) and coastal exposure or European history (the apparently use some rather corrosive anti ice agents on runways in Europe that we don't - although the concern is as much about gear components there) are both things to...

Who is ready for the $100 oil change?

Yeah, it's highly variable.. My PITA car takes 10+ quarts.

Lake Michigan - Would you cross it in a single?

I've done it a bunch of times in a single in the past (with and without a life raft) but at this stage in my life (with little kids and a bit more financial means), I might not. Everyone's risk calculus is different - and not always fully rational/consistent.

Who is ready for the $100 oil change?

I'm overdue for one of my cars and unfortunately it's one where the oil change is a PITA so I outsource this one... Gotta get it scheduled but the handful of (appropriate) shops are all slammed with the crazy market values for cars these days.
