Triple 4, double charlie - does it annoy you?

Or double double? Although maybe In N Out would send a cease and desist letter.

    Cirrus Turbo

It’s actually pretty decent even for the mustang!

    Cirrus Turbo

My TN reliably did 200 KTAS at 17,500 burning ~17 GPH Ts tend to be ~5-10 knots slower. Try to find a good tailwind and they can really cover ground (yes I was in a slow descent but come on, 352 kts!)

    Pilawt - Jeff Jacobs

Haven’t been on here much but ugh this sucks. Tailwinds Jeff- you were a good guy!

Two dead after Mooney door pops open. St Augustine FL

I think there was a Cirrus SR22 stall/spin crash that looked a lot like this after a door popped open on takeoff (which used to happen a on some G2s and G3s. I think the finding was the pilot got all distracted trying to fly the door problem instead of the plane, overshot final, got slow, tried...

    Fisker is toast.

Yeah and that's the tip of the iceberg (not in cost but quantity). Some little thing (usually not very expensive if you are a DIYer) but annoying nonetheless seem to be always wrong. I have a 355 but mechanically very similar to 348.

    Fisker is toast.

Gaydon era AMs (DB9 and onward) are actually quite reliable. I’ve had mine for 12 years and other than consumables (oil, filters, fuel, brake pads, etc) I have only ever had one issue - the clock wouldn’t reset after adjustment which required a software reboot essentially and I also replaced the...

    Fisker is toast.

Henrik Fisker definitely has a bad record of building and running car companies. As a designer, I'd say he's had some real hits - but I may be biased as an owner of one of his designs:

    Hitler rant parodies on Youtube

I’m very much with you on the appalling rise of antisemitism (and a lot of other F’ed up things going on in the world today) but I still think some of these are hitlerious and humor generally doesn’t bother me…

    Eclipse jet

I flew one once and it is a nice little jet with very spotty company history and times of serious parts shortages but seems more stable now. Those who bought one of these things for $500K or so during the dark times got a hell of a 370 KT, FL410 twin jet deal… but the cabin is very small even by...

Youtube Pilot and her dad perish in TN

What is the right age range (roughly) to really teach firearm safety to kids? We have a 6 yr old girl and a 4 yr old boy and at this point we have talked about guns needing to be respected because they can be very dangerous and are for grown ups only but we lock everything up religiously. My...

How many hours did you fly in 2023?

My lightest year in quite a while… usually I’m around 120-150 hours

FedEx leaving packages on the road now?

Fedex is the worst. They do this all the time for us and leave packages outside of the community gate (Covered in "DO NOT LEAVE PACKAGES HERE - PLEASE DELIVER TO FRONT DOOR placards) in a deep blue state. So of course, half our stuff get stolen by people driving by and noticeing they are out of...

    PA28 down near Gainesville, FL

A good friend of mine was in a back seat of a Cirrus SR22 that had a total powerplant failure out over Lake Superior in winter. They had barely enough altitude to glide back to shore and put it down on a road without a scratch. It was only after safely exciting and letting the adrenaline wear...

    Hilariously wasteful charter flight

I flew my Mustang to LA to pick up some wheels/tires once* Better example: I know someone who has a G550 and occasionally uses it to fly the tiny family dog (as sole passenger) from one house to another across the country. * not entirely accurate as I needed to be in San Diego anyway and so I...

    Winter flying and icing

Fair point but I just did my EMB-500 type so I’m feeling pedantic. :)

    Winter flying and icing

Technically it’s engine heat on under 10c and the rest (boots and windshield) under 5c according to my book on the P100

Previously Owned Aircraft--Do you stalk them?

I had not until this thread but now that you bring it up, I just looked up my last airplane and found out that it is being used by a sim company as an SR22 model.. Not just my tail number but the exact paint scheme that I designed. How strange!

    Kathryn’s Report back up?

I sent the site a respectful email many years ago trying to find out who Kathryn is and the origin of the site (I had heard that Kathryn was a widow of a GA crash who started the blog to deal with the grief) but never got a response.
