I don't think VFR flights show on FlightAware. I think only IFR flights show. On my last x-country flights I opened and activated a flight plan and used flight following and don't see any data regarding my flights.

You know it's funny cause you said this. When I was practicing there I noticed the windsock direction at the beginning of 13. When I landed I turned my aileron into the wind. When I was taxiing I noticed the windsock at the end of the runway facing the other direction! :yikes: :D

If you want to save money look into the schools in the east and south bays. Schools in the peninsula will cost you an arm and leg. Might wanna post in JC forum if you don't find much info here.
