    I stand corrected.

PA28 crash just off KIWS (West Houston)

Shortly after takeoff would imply that they were switching tanks during initial climbout. Assuming it was set to an incorrect position upon entering the runway, I wouldn't expect the engine would run long enough to make it to takeoff speed much less climbing out.

    HELP! Insurance Claim Denial

Is there another official designation for a C172 converted to a tailwheel?? I can understand if you said you had a C172 and it was actually a C172RG but if there is no official FAA designation for a C172 tailwheel and they neglected to ask if it was or what modifications were made to the plane...

Plane crashes into homes in San Diego, Ca

Gel-Mann amnesia is what you're referring to. I tend to disbelieve a good portion of things any media reports on.

    210 in flames at PDK

That video is absolutely worthless other than showing that it had a normal takeoff climb and then extreme left bank right before impact with the ground. There are better, sharper images of spacecraft landing on other planets and this is all we have here on Earth? Given how quickly it "appears"...

Plane crashes into homes in San Diego, Ca

To any pilot, if you are having an issue, forget what you were attempting to do and fly the plane. Confess to ATC that you need help getting out of the situation you are in so that you can lighten the workload. Straight and level or a simple climb are easy tasks. Trying to recover from a...

Plane crashes into homes in San Diego, Ca

I can attest to this. At KOXR and KCMA, if you get vectored south by Mugu they will dump you at the FAF at 4,000 because of terrain. You then have to dump a ****load of altitude to get one the glideslope. Had to do this twice in IMC. It isn't fun but doable if you are aware and prepared.

Plane crashes into homes in San Diego, Ca

The west coast is known for consistent marine layer during the summer months. Sometimes it lasts for days. I had nearly seven hours of actual by the time I took my IR checkride because of it. It's usually a thin layer, and smooth, but offers many opportunities to get actual time. Sometimes...

Approaching WHP VFR from the west

Easiest from Santa Barbara is to follow the valley up from SZP to Santa Clarita then southeast and call in over Newhall Pass for a straight-in.

    Steak Sauce

Any place providing steak sauce is basically telling me they know there is a significant possibility that their steaks suck. A steak only needs salt and pepper. Sometimes a nice compound butter will add more happiness to my meat.

Why do they always call me Skyhawk?

I usually get called "November," no matter what month it happens to be.

    Commercial Pilot Career?

I have two rules about money. I don’t bail anyone out and I don’t co-sign for anyone. I wouldn’t even do it for my own wife. The $80k for the 141 school is a massive waste and more than likely a low number. If he can’t complete the curriculum and pass high check rides in the specified number...

    Underwear that'll change your life

I've been wearing Duluth Buck Naked chonies for years, now. Won't wear anything else, though they are a pretty penny. I bought my wife a pair of their ladies undies and her mind was blown. They're kinda granny panties but loves them better than anything. She tossed a whole bunch of old...

Damaged RV-7, Nicely equipped, up for insurance bid

This guy posted about this on the Vans Air Force forum a few months ago. He was literally on his way home with a CFI after purchasing the plane when Bambi ran out in front of him on landing.

    Toilet Paper

I don't even care about the lack of TP in the stores. I have enough to last a few month under current use and I have a shower next to the toilet with a detachable head. Priorities aren't something most people tend to pay attention to. Hell, the line in front of the drinking water dispenser...

    Going to digital log books.

I transferred my stuff to digital at about the same time as you. I haven't gone with any of the EFB logs. Instead, I made my own Excel logbook so I can customize it how I like. I also add tabs for training requirements for IR and CPL as well as IACRA and summary pages for currency. It's been...
