All I can say is you should go for it while you're young and willing to live modestly. We went for 3 weeks a few years ago (Oahu and Big Island) and really enjoyed it. I realize living there would be different but if you don't like it after a year or two, you can leave.

My issue with Carmax is that they sell nearly new cars for nearly new prices. I favor either a) NEW or b) CHEAP. For most carmax vehicles I'd rather pay 10% more for a less equipped new version of the same car.

I spot people in the pattern visually a lot easier/quicker after they announce their position. I bat about 0.500 on spotting traffic ATC tells me about.
