    How cheap is your airplane

You're right. Should of made a calculation involving many more things and use usable weight instead, and include range, and stuff like that. Maybe make a few separate formulas which will help easily compare airplanes for what kind of things you want it to do.

    How cheap is your airplane

Hello Pilots of America. I am curious as to how your airplane (either one you fly or own) preforms based on fuel burn and speed. Go ahead and post your average cruise TAS (knots) and divide that by your cruise fuel burn (gallons). Then multiply that by how many souls you can carry. Lets call...

    FAA Sued over Drone Registry

Didn't read the article, but based on what Unit74 said, I want the FAA to regulate drones. If they don't, I'll aim my propeller straight at your drone once it goes above 500 feet if it is small enough.

    The MyFlightBook thread

Myflightbook is amazing. I love the visited airports feature with the map and the rating progress feature. There is one issue I noticed. The rating progress for commercial "10 solo landings at night in a single engine airplane (flight in the traffic pattern and a control tower are assumed)"...

    Cool Project for the kids

That's pretty cool. I wish I had a play house thing like this when I was younger.

    A friend wants a Mooney J

I learned in the 150 because it was all my dad and I could afford at the time.

Best way to prep for the oral exam

For my PPL I used the "Private Oral Exam Guide". I am currently using a similar book for my IR check ride in a few weeks. Study with your instructor (Have them give you a practice oral). Also find a friend or family member to take time to go through the book with you even though they won't...

    When departing from controlled airport

Tell the tower where you want to go. If they tell you things like early cross wind approved or right turn out approved, then fly that. If they just clear you for take off and you are going straight, then fly straight. If they clear you and you want to do the other way, turn into the traffic...

    Flying height???

All he needed was 300 feet. That might of been what he was thinking. Also seems like he didn't fly Vx. When I fly in rapid rising terrain, I like to be on a victor airway at an ifr MEA or when off a victor airway at the MORA. Even with flying VFR. This is really sad though.

Nice Place to fly in Dallas-Fort Worth area

This evening I went flying with my mom. It was the first time I took her in my dad's Mooney M20E. We flew from T67 (Hicks) to KGDJ (Granbury). I already reserved a courtesy car out of their three courtesy cars and drove to Granbury square and ate some food. About a mile away is a German...

    Ipad Apps for New Pilot

I was just flying from T67 (Near Fort Worth, Texas) to KHYI (South of Austin, Texas) this Monday evening. It was a nice night cross country, but on my return trip my GPS stopped working. I flew for awhile without a GPS and with only VOR and ground references. It was all fine like this, but I...

    Landing on a non-runway

Thanks for all the responses guys. People I know have told me a mooney is good on grass strips (I haven't landed one yet, but heavy aircraft with somewhat small wheels and sitting close to the ground does not soUnd the best to me). Would it be safe to land a mooney on a field like these or...

IFR enroute onto the approach - Still training

So the note "Procedure NA for arrivals on RZC VORTAC airway radials 150 CW 264" means from radial 150 to radial 264 (moving clock wise) are not authorized. I overlooked that. So does this mean that instead of wanting V13 I should of requested FSM to SUMMO then fly the 221 radial for razorback...

    Landing on a non-runway

Yea. Awhile back, I was thinking of shortening a trip to a friends house by having them mow part of their land and rid if of big bumps, holes, and rocks.

    Landing on a non-runway

No idea yet. Just I have in the past, but I wasn't so sure about it, and I remembered today, so I'm asking. I think I thought about some place right on the boarder of DFW's airspace 9 miles west of Spinks (KFWS).
