    Scheduling Instructor Checkride Help

I don't use a flight school. I am using an instructor and my dad is an instructor too. They gave their recommendations, but I am still confused about it and would like additional information from others. I am confident that I will do well regardless of FAA or designee. And I think you are right...

    Scheduling Instructor Checkride Help

If you have your private pilot's license, I can take you up. I need practice mock instructing, so would be great. The thing is... my Mooney does not have brakes on the right side, so that is why you must have your privates. What certificates / ratings do you have?

    Scheduling Instructor Checkride Help

Hello. I am trying to finish up my CFI training within the next 7 weeks. I want to take my checkride with a designee (I can do with FAA if I need to). I know I have to contract the administrator and get permission, and I once called to get information. I was told once I was approved, I would get...

Looking to start a small flight school

Thanks for the input everyone! I have decided that I am not going to go through with it; at least for now. I am going to get CFI then work for a flight school for 6-12 months then decide once I have instructing experience. Once again, thank you for all the input. If I don't do this a year from...

Looking to start a small flight school

Working for myself, I would charge $45 dollars per hour plus $15 per hour when renting out. So combined amount of $60 per hour, BUT if I work for a flight school, I get $20 per hour, but I end up with more income each week and each year due to it being stable and I don't have to take time marketing.

Looking to start a small flight school

Hello everyone. It is time for me to decide which way to go. I have compiled the following graph to compare owning a flight school vs working for one. I included a pros and cons list below. Please let me know what I should go for. (On the graph, low means the lowest I will likely make. And high...

Looking to start a small flight school

I have income on the second tab. I have free hangar space. I am a software developer, so I used to build websites and software for a living. I can wash the aircraft. Yes I was going to charge for that. I was going to do 45 for flight and 35 for ground. Do you charge for filling out faa forms?

Looking to start a small flight school

I made my price table public. It is located here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/123rj-tli1kuxfBncU3CSDYbMDXSVCF6eMHZjViYhSxc/edit?usp=sharing There are three main tabs to notice: operation costs, income, and tables.

Looking to start a small flight school

Wow. Thanks so much! Out of those 250 hours the aircraft flew, how much of it is flight instruction time?

Looking to start a small flight school

I just got quotes from an IA at my field for the annual and 100 hour, and I changed my price tables. It is still affordable. Prices: 100hour: $500 - $800 Annual: $1000 - $1200 Minus $50 on each for owner assisted.

May I ask, how many hours do your aircraft fly each year in your flight school?

The first guy got his IA about three months ago. At least that is what he told me.

Looking to start a small flight school

I plan allocating a large portion of revenue to pay for marketing until I can't handle any more students. I guess I will increase my prices to match everyone else's. It is nice to know this kind of thing can be successful. Thank you.

Looking to start a small flight school

I have received a general business liability quote for this business. It would be only $607 per year for $1M coverage for liability, personal and advertising injury, damages to hangar.

Looking to start a small flight school

Nice idea. I will do that. Employees are a hassle especially for a small business. I plan on requiring 30-60 minutes of instruction before someone can rent. Then after that, they will only need instruction again if they go too long without any flying. Also, I was thinking of including a two...

Looking to start a small flight school

AOPA quoted between $1,500-$2,500, so I am going with the higher number for now. I have 180 hours in this aircraft but they don't know that. They just know my total time of 360. Also I am 18, so it is likely a higher cost. I have detached from the planes and I understand. The other flight...

Looking to start a small flight school

Thanks for the advise and thanks for telling me about the tax low. When I learned to fly in that plane, I did it during the hottest days. I was taught to lean of peak even when doing maneuvers and to always do straight and level after maneuvers to allow the engine to cool along with no...
