    Happy Halloween!

This was a great day to fly.

Am I ruined forever? Got to fly a Citabria

If you even ask the question, you are 'ruined' already. You felt the joy of a Citabria. In my brief flying time (about 1000 hours) I've had the honor of sitting at the right seat controls of a DGA, a cabin Waco, an SR-8 and a Spartan Executive. As neat as they are, I do not lust for one...

Weird thought on 360 deg. turns

We would hope that in a student's first 5ish hours of flight he would be doing some time in calm air and the instructor would show him the wake.

Weird thought on 360 deg. turns

If you ain't feeling the wake now and then on a calm day, some work needs to be done. If you have a fine flying airplane just set the turn and it'll find the wake. And then there is the wake one feels when doing a nice loop...

Weird thought on 360 deg. turns

Pick a spot on the horizon. Forget the compass for now.

    Flying a Stearman

High performance in a fixed pitch 670...not an issue. Handling a Stearman on the ground is an issue...especially on asphalt. I doubt anyone will let you use their Stearman until you know how to fly it. People do learn to fly in them.

    Student Landing Issue

You'll get it. The airplane will land when it wants to. Forcing it down too soon is a common error.

    Air-to-Air Cessna 170A

    Great shots.

    How safe/unsafe is glider flying?

I fly 'em and they are as safe as the pilot wants them to be...just like flying a powered plane in that respect. They are much safer than flying a powered airplane and make the pilot a better pilot. The feeling "I only have one shot at this landing" goes away after awhile. A 2-33 or a 1-26...

Logging hours for cheaper aircraft insurance...

Anytime we can save money and still have the products we want is a win in my book; however, in the total cost of owning an airplane, is a couple of hundred dollars a year a deal breaker?

    Open cockpit?

I recommend getting some time in a little biplane. They are around and many owners are willing to introduce their plane to those with a sincere interest. That's how it happened for me.

How many hours did it take for your high performance?

Please keep in mind that someone can have a high performance endorsement and no experience with a constant speed prop.

    Oshkosh - 2019

I'll be ok without the full actual experience. I've had one trip to AirVenture and experienced what very few, if anyone, has ever experienced. That visit will be tough to match.

I can't make sense of this crash

    pulling out of a spin?

    Oshkosh - 2019

I’m seriously considering making the flight next year. I want to be part of it once as a fly-in participant. Apparently arriving a few days early is the safe way to get there.

OSH 2018, What do you think?

Her name is MAX and she was just sold at Oshkosh.

    Cessna tail slide testing.

If the price were the same would these pilots choose a 180 over a 182 or a 185 over a 206?

    Cessna tail slide testing.

I thought you meant the other kind of tail slide (tailslide).

    Daily Pic

I was taught to taxi like a “drunkin’ Sailor”! Here I am looking down the runway as the nose moves to the left.
