Want To Buy Old Prop / Aircraft Part / Retirement Gift

Hi - I'm looking for something we can use as a retirement gift for our long time pilot. Ideally, looking for something a group can sign with well wishes...thinking of an old prop, aircraft skin, something along those lines. Thanks!

    Is AOPA that hard up?

lol..they "sold" the jet from what I've heard. Now, Mark Baker owns everything and your dues just go to pay him directly...no registration tied to AOPA, but check the financial reports and you'll see greatly increased payments to Mr. Baker for "his" aircraft.

    An AOPA WTF pie chart

Go look and see how much is being paid to Mr. Baker for utilizing his own aircraft on the member dime. I don't mind spending some money and travelling GA...but now getting reimbursed for his own aircraft in addition to the company owned ones is BS

That's the same math that convinced the board that the wine club, the refurbished 152s, the flight planner etc were a good idea!

AOPA sold their aviation insurance business.

I've seen the same thing...was on the board of a club for many years...even when the flying club stuff rolled out. No contact to us....but we are a small club with 3 aircraft, 55 people.....................

AOPA sold their aviation insurance business.

I guess I don't see a huge problem with some entity doing this...It does seem like another instance of mission creep and a bit self-serving. The same line about illustrating how it can work was used with the aviation center AOPA bought on the field...though it is used to store the AOPA fleet...

    Tennessee Sales Tax on Aircraft

The state you (or your LLC) reside in is irrelevant. Sales or use tax are usually assessed in the state where an aircraft is primarily based. If you purchase it in state, you pay sales tax. If you purchase out of state in a tax exempt sale there, you pay use tax in the state the aircraft if...
