    Pilots Bill of Rights

I absolutely agree with what you are saying, but didn't Calvin Coolidge say that its a lot better to kill bad bills than to pass good ones?

Big Airline push to Privatize ATC - User Fees

No. It IS out of our pocket! Everytime we fly. Its called the fuel tax! Did you convientently ignore that, or are you ignorant to the fact that you DO pay for ATC everytime the fuel truck comes by?? ATC in an inheriently governmental function (along with the military of course) because...

Big Airline push to Privatize ATC - User Fees

It never ceases to amaze me how shortsided this would be for the airlines. So they want to chock off their pipeline of future pilots by making GA even more expensive than it already is! Talk about biting the hand that feeds them:rolleyes:

My condolences:( What a bummer as you would have had solid VFR tomorrow (sunday). Finish up that IR asap:D

JetBlue Shakes Up Pilot Hiring by Training Them From Scratch

I agree most with this. Quite frankly, in my opinion, every pilot who flies part 121, even as a FO, should have several hundred hours at least of single pilot IFR in real weather flying freight or charter in piston aircraft. They really need to have a few "oh ****" moments in the part 135...

    Predicting weather

I would do that same, even if I was VFR only. Late Sat night/early sunday morning look like good VFR as well, with a high moving in from the west. http://www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/medr/nav_conus_pmsl.php?fday=5&fcolor=wbg While not nearly as appealing as the Bahamas, there are a lot worse...

    Predicting weather

^^THIS^^ 5-6 days out is wayyyy too early to scrap a flight. That being said, you gotta have a bit of flexability with your plans when it comes to GA, especially when VFR only in the colder months. If I were in your shoes, I'd just go since its solid VFR on the way down, and worry about...

    GoPro Vs Garmin Virb

These are the top 2 reasons I much prefer the Gopro. To address the other point, I can just position the Gopro in the plane so my GPS screen will also be in view.

What a handful! Bustin' though delicious cloud soup, with 3 camera angles!

I was using the tablet for the enroute charts and app plates and the GPS was used to give my viewers more situational awareness during the video. Best of luck in your training and make sure to find a CFII that will not hesitate to take you up in hard IFR on short notice!

    CFI Rating and Liability

Eggggggzactly!! That is what I keep trying to emphasize is that 100% of ones legal defense is automatically paid by ones insurance!! THAT is 95% of the battle.

Oops...my bad. I did mean to say RNAV 18 at OXC!

Big price increase for landing in Rhode Island

That's certainly true Henning, but remember there is MTP, MVY and ACK, veryyyy close by! If this isn't penny wise but pound foolish, I dunno what is!

    CFI Rating and Liability

And that's exactly why you should have insurance. The cost of your legal defense is covered 100%, and is not deducted from your policy limit.

What a handful! Bustin' though delicious cloud soup, with 3 camera angles!

Good question! On this particular flight, OXC is right on the edge between BDL and NY app, so knowing that, I called BDL tracon on the phone and asked them if I should file 2 seperate plans or just 1 RR. They told me that since the RNAV 18 is under their control that I should just file 1...

Video with ATC and background music: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d8k3S3wxIvM Last weekend, I had mostly been keeping an eye on the WX for Halloween as I was planning to fly 2 pax to BID and back that day (yesterday, which was a blast, but VFR wx), but fairly suddenly, about a week ago...

    GoPro question

Sure you can!! With one of these!!! Put the dark side up, and it'll do a good job lessening the lighting contrast between the panel and the outside.

The impossible turn made possible---simulated engine failure from 600' with turnback

Re: The impossible turn made possible---simulated engine failure from 600' with turnb Absolutely correct! Density altitude (and weight) have NO effect on glide range. The only reason it is relevant in determining a minimum safe turn back altitude is that your climb angle will be shallower...
