    Planes and hurricanes

And people think its odd that I prefer to live in interior New England where we get a lot of snow, but very few actual natural disasters. Makes no sense that people think living somewhere where we get a few snow events a year with 12+ inches is worse than somewhere that regularly gets hit...

    Egregious FBO charges

Makes me wonder how many pilots over there are just flyin IFR in the soup not talking to anyone with their transponders off, flying the own nav on approaches.

Private pilot flying a candidate in a federal election

Dude just get your commercial certificate, then you can legally do that! You can usually get it done in a week or two and it’s fun

How much have Trent Palmer's legal costs been?

His costs IF none of the other organizations had been involved.

How much have Trent Palmer's legal costs been?

How much roughly has it likely cost in legal expenses during the whole process from the first NTSB ALJ, to the Full NTSB and now to the US court of appeals? Honestly have no idea? If I had to guess, probably $30K?

How much money should I expect to make in the industry??

Sorry, but being home every night is wayyyy over rated. Sure, they are home more, but do you realize how few days off they have compared to 121 pilots at a major airline (including ULCC's like Frontier). Its not even close. Not to mention they take their job home w them frequently. I'm fresh...

How much money should I expect to make in the industry??

    6) Sorry, but kids are NOT for everybody and college is NOT for everyone either. The sooner we realize this the better off our society will be.

FIKI cert Mooney adequate for regular winter trips to Newfoundland and Labrador from New England?

Hey everyone, on the heels of the thread about the new guy who was asking about flying regularly from LA to Aspen for Ski trips, I wanted to ask you guys about my own mission. Fairly experienced pilot. 3000+ total, 1500 hrs multi, living in CT and looking to make regular trips, year round to...

    FIKI Cessna 206 Replacement

Even a piston single FIKi aircraft can get you through light or moderate icing if turbocharged especially if TKS equipped vs boots. Granted one should use the equipment to flee ice of course but any FIKI bird has already been tested extensively in the real world before being certified

Why GA exclusive w umbrella policies?

Lets quit the hyperbole with that one and talk about facts. Out of all the fatal GA accidents (about 300 a year)......how many people on the ground are killed in those? Less than 1% I'm willing to bet (I'll research it and let you know). One has a better chance of being killed in a bear...

Why GA exclusive w umbrella policies?

Can't one get 1M smooth usually if they aren't low time and have a clean record? Especially in my situation flying for a major airline with over 3000 hrs, no violations or accidents, and maintaining proficiency in piston AC, not just jets

Why GA exclusive w umbrella policies?

But remember though….an umbrella only would kick in if the primary insurance is exhausted. That’s a pretty substantial firewall to go through first.

Why GA exclusive w umbrella policies?

It’s might not be safer than driving but it’s definitely safer than snowmobiling or motorcycles yet umbrella policies don’t exclude those activities

Why GA exclusive w umbrella policies?

But how often do the injured successfully go after the defendants for more than the policy limit (1M) if their net worth is also a lot more than 1M? I would imagine extremely rarely since it’s a lot better to take the insurance settlement bird in the hand vs litigate again for years with no...

Why GA exclusive w umbrella policies?

So I really don’t understand…..why is GA excluded in umbrella policies when it’s very clear that the risk of having one kick in is extremely small? One would first have to exhaust usually 1M on the normal policy, and that has to be an extremely rare (any one have stats??) occurrence. If you...

    This flying seems awfully expensive...

Now well into my 40's.....not having kids, and never wanting them was the best decision I ever made! Very easy to afford flying without having that expense. https://www.investopedia.com/articles/personal-finance/090415/cost-raising-child-america.asp...

Provable Abstinence Greater Than Two Years

There HAS to be more this story than what meets the eye. This guy didn't violate any state statutes or FAA regulations. Sorry, I'm just not buying it, especially if the DD literally blew a 0.00 BAC.

What is the flight from Florida to the Bahamas like in a single engine?

I just loveeee how everyone puts so much thought into flying single engine over WARM water, but not nearly as much into flying single engine at night, IMC, over densely populated places, and rugged terrain---or all of those combine!! Yes, you absolutely want to have a raft, jackets, EPIRB, etc...
