    getting a license but older

It's late but I do not think a 14 percent chance of a cardiac event without any history of cardiac issues or meds would qualify as a cardiac history, and if I remember correctly illegal substance was within the last two years. So the answers to both those questions I would think is no.

    getting a license but older

What were the issues your AME had. I am not an AME but would think smoking a joint 50 years ago should be a non issue. Doubt there are many that can say they never tried a joint in their youth. Many of our recent presidents have admitted to doing harder stuff. Going sport license to start...

    AOPA VREF

I look at the annual as an inspection of the plane and its log books to make sure there is not anything that makes the plane a mistake to buy. It is sort of like a house inspection when you buy a house. It is not a guarantee that the plane is in perfect condition or that nothing will go wrong...

    I am getting a little tired…

I on the other hand have not flown at all since July. My plane is still in the annual from hell, and there is no light at the end of a very long tunnel. I may have to report withdrawal symptoms on my next medical.

    Solution: More cameras

If you carry a cell phone with you they probably already can. Most modern cars can be similarly tracked I believe. And then there's ADS-B for your plane.

New to Aviation. How do you Request permission to Takeoff/Land?

Would add to this who you are talking to. It is true that at an uncontrolled field (no tower or tower closed) you do not have you announce your intentions, but in my opinion if you have the ability to do so it is preferable and certain safer. See and avoid is much easier if you know where to...

    FAA Medical Neuroligical

Agree with above. What med. My experience with the FAA on their requirements for their requirements for neuro issues has been that they ask for the world and go way overboard with a billion dollar workup with all sorts of very expensive test which have absolutely nothing to do with the...

    Philadelphia

Spent 7 long years there. No fond memories. Agree it sure is not the city of brotherly love. To me it will always be Filthydelphia. Have fun, be safe.

    Solution: More cameras

I think even Mr Orwell himself could not have predicted the insinuation of cameras into modern society. About the only place there seems not be be cameras is in the bathroom, and even then that's not certain. Oh and when you need them for the police to find who stole your jet skis, but then...

    Student Keeps Getting Motion Sickness

There is an acupressure band they sell at west marine for this. Never had the problem. However when I was training my CFI asked me about the same problem with one of her students and I mentioned it and the student bought one and it worked great. Is it placebo, who knows, but she started...

Class 1 Medical Certificate on Review Healthy Young Adult

This occurs in many places and it is not generational. It is cultural and the new norm. In the operating room nurse anesthetists and physician anesthesiogists spend more time on their cell phones than administering to their patients, same with floor nurses, icu nurses, er nurses and docs...

Class 1 Medical Certificate on Review Healthy Young Adult

Gapapentin is a poor anticonvulsant and is rarely used for seizure control. It however is frequently used for pain control. Initially this was for chronic pain issues but recently, over the last five or so years, it is being used for acute pain control, typically being prescribed in low doses...

Keeping oxygen tanks on a plane in a hot summer day

In Florida. Though plane is in hangar it has been in the heat during trips. Never had a problem. I would think that the tanks have a relief valve that would relieve pressure in a safe manner before the pressures in the tank go too high to cause an explosive rupture of the tank. Also my guess...

    Signature’s relationship with light GA

Have used both sheltaire and signature as well as the non corporate FBO and have always been treated well. Always friendly and helpful. I have not kept track of fees, but have only experienced having to pay for tie down fees when I kept the plane there over night. Compared to the inflated...

(Soon to be) Hurricane Lee; This could be ugly

Not sure I most would agree but would rather have my plane in a hangar going through a major hurricane (especially one that has weathered a number of hurricanes ) than tied down outside on a tarmac which may end up in the storms path(even if the storm has deintensified).

    Pre-purchase inspection advice

Remember a prebuy is a snapshot at the time you buy the plane. I bought a t206h 2 years ago which had a clean bill of health and nothing major on the prebuy. Annual last year was also a squeaker. This year I am going through the annual from hell. 3 weeks in and at least four major issues, an...

(Soon to be) Hurricane Lee; This could be ugly

Did not have a plane during Charley started flying a few years later, but the airport, KPGD, sustained quite a bit of damage . My I n structural lost her 210, though a few of my friends sustained little or no damage. Some of the hangars from what I understand were damaged but most did well. For...

    G1000 amp discharge

I think someone may have said this as well, but not sure if this is the case, but my experience with the G1000 (10 years with my T182T and now 2 years with my T206H) is that when I got erratic readings that made no sense and were not supported by secondary behavior of other sensors that should...

(Soon to be) Hurricane Lee; This could be ugly

Having lived through Charley, Irma, Ian, and a number of smaller storms including most recently Idalia I can confidently say it does not matter if it is the storm of the century or not. They can all put a damper on your life not to mention your bank account.

    New Registration Certificate

Got mine about two months ago. I seem to remember it having the signature of the acting administrator. Cannot double check as the plane is going through the annual from hell. The AD with 1000 dollar v clamps among other expensive things. Need two of them with two more cheaper ones costing 200...
