Amelia's Landing, Port Aransas, TX, KRAS

Was just there last Wednesday. Actually saw you and both your planes out there. Would've stopped to say hi, but had to get back to BKS. http://youtu.be/Qr0Pu8sqDVo

    Gulfstream Girl

One of my favorite podcasts is Airspeed. Steve Tupper manages to do exactly what GG does in scoring freebies and posting the experience for public consumption. I enjoy them regardless of whether they are posted by an....arguably.....attractive woman, or a middle aged lawyer dude. Well Tupper, I...

    Gulfstream Girl

Wow, I saw 13 pages and thought for sure she was participating in the thread. Boy was I wrong. Just a buncha bad attitudes.

    My engine partial/forced landing.....on video

Well, FAA took the plugs and mags to test on their equipment. Although 10 of the 12 plugs were out of tolerance and needed replacement, they created sufficient spark for them to conclude that they did not cause my engine issue. Both mags also checked out too, so they have returned the parts back...

    SR 22 down

Sorry about that Dave. I was dragged to the mall and was sitting, aggravated, on a crowded bench while the family shopped. I took it out on you. Apologies :-)

    SR 22 down

I love the SR22 and the safety the chute offers, but Im not pulling the ripchord with that kind of real estate below me. Of course assuming the oil covered windscreen doesnt apply and all control surfaces functional.

    PA-32 Down in Jackson, MS

Yep, went up in a 172 I trained in a couple weekends ago. It felt good to get back in the saddle, and I needed it big time. Now we want our bird back. Still troubleshooting the cause. Mags and plugs have been ruled out as cause. I'm looking at this Six crash from really different perspective.

    PA-32 Down in Jackson, MS

Not good news, considering my recent mishap and trying to convince my wife it was a 1/1,000,000 event

    My engine partial/forced landing.....on video

This was an interesting learning experience with regard to that. The first call to me 30 minutes after the landing was from the NTSB. Once he determined that the event qualified as an "incident" and that nobody was injured, he transferred the investigation to the FAA. The field inspector...

    My engine partial/forced landing.....on video

Wings came off Monday and delivered to A&P 30 miles away. FAA was scheduled to come this morning, but no-show. Turns out there was a fatal crash in San Marcos. Obviously takes precedent. A&P eyeballed engine, but can't do anything until Feds get there. No major indications. Turning prop has a...

    My engine partial/forced landing.....on video

First call was to brother/partner. Funkeruski in these parts. He may have a funny account of my state as I called him no longer than 1 minute after I set down. Waited 30 minutes for call to wife. Wanted a calmer demeanor

    My engine partial/forced landing.....on video

The FAA guy and I did a standard runup. Engine was unhappy at both 1700rpm and idle. Not missing like it did airborne WOT, but enough to know something was off. I'm hating te idea of removing the wings for transport, but I'm going to follow Chartis' lead on this process. I will push for a...

    My engine partial/forced landing.....on video

That field was the only wings mostly level option. Being my home airport, I knew it was there and nothing but mesquite beyond. I guess subconsciously as I left the aerodrome, I figured I could try to work the engine clean until/if I got there. Also was aware of the pipline clearing leading to...

    My engine partial/forced landing.....on video

Purely as self assessment, I think my obvious stress slowed my reaction time a bit, maybe. That is all subconscious and can't really be trained, I understand. Maybe real life experience sharpens those reflexes. I hope I never have a chance to test that theory. I have also learned to become...
