    Cherokee 140 Radio Wiring Access

Thank you so much for all the advice and suggestions. Removing the seats with a pillow and a gym mat was the winner. It turned out that it was simply an RF coupling issue inside the radio. I put in a new 175B and all is well however it is nice to have all new coax and solid grounds nonetheless. :)

    COMM1 interferes with NAV1 CDI

So after replacing all of the coax, checking all of the grounds and even putting an analyzer on the antennas, I was at a complete loss. It turned out there was some sort of RF coupling issue inside the radio. Replaced with a new KX-175b today and all is well.

    Cherokee 140 Radio Wiring Access

Hello everybody, I'm trying to trace down what I believe is a bad ground and a bad coax problem in my Cherokee(1964 PA28-140). Is there any way to take the top of the panel off or am I really expected to lay upside down with my head at the rudder pedals and try to reach stuff. All of the...

    No oil temperature?

That photo was taken during the installation but you are correct, the connector was completely knocked off. For once it was a nice simple problem :)

    No oil temperature?

I had a new ki-214 installed in my plane yesterday and now all of a sudden my oil temp gauge is not working. Is it possible that it just came on hooked to win the avionics guy was reaching behind the panel to get the indicator out? What would be the right course of self diagnosis before calling...

    Advice for cleaning audio connectors?

I wouldn't want that at all which is why I was hesitating to use the brasso. Apparently you just have to give it a good cleaning with alcohol afterwards.

    Advice for cleaning audio connectors?

I was thinking of using Brasso and a rag since I have a bottle and someone told me that it would leave a protective coating that would reduce conductivity.

    Advice for cleaning audio connectors?

So it turns out that some of the scratchy crackling that has been happening from my comm radios has to do with dirt and oxidation on the male(brass) end of my David Clark push to talk switch which hooks into the panel. I was told to clean the connector and the inside of the jacks with scotch...

Except for the price tag :mad2:

    Engine bog when power applied.

Ever since I posted this thread a couple weeks ago I've been told everything from its normal and safe to I wouldn't fly it at all. For what it's worth, here are the results of replacing my old 10-3678-32 with a brand new billet machined 10-5217 from AvStarDirect. I've had the plane back since...

    Engine bog when power applied.

After throwing some money at it, it turns out the airplane needs a new carburetor. My engine is a O-320-D2A and has a 10-3678-32 and we have decided to replace it with the 10-5217 that way it will run a bit richer on takeoff and it will have better atomization all around. Apparently the 10-5217...

    Engine bog when power applied.

I did not happen before the cylinders we're replaced and it did not happen for the first 18 hours after they were replaced either.

QAA Seems like the best deal. They bill your card $1435.00 and refund $600.00 upon receipt of the core. I can't win with this airplane. I've had it 3 months, done $11,000 worth of work and I've flown it 30 hours ><

    Engine bog when power applied.

The mags were pulled and inspected during the annual last month. I replaced cylinders 1 & 3 and all has been well. I have about 20 hours on them and this was not occurring before 2 days ago.

    Engine bog when power applied.

So if it is the Accellerator pump am I looking at replacing the carburetor or just Sending it to a shop? My engine is an O320-D2A and the carb part no is 10-3878-2. My mechanic who is on vacation said I should replace it with a 10-5217 because it will be richer on takeoff and have better...

    Engine bog when power applied.

It's sitting in an airport with an a&up who is going to look at it this week. I'm certainly not going to take advice over the Internet when it comes to safety. Just a) trying to get an education so that a I learn something and b) so I know if this mechanic is full of crap or not :-)

It tends to become really noticeable during throttle adjustments in the traffic pattern as well.

    Engine bog when power applied.

I'm having an acceleration problem in my airplane(1964 cherokee 140 with 160hp o320-d2a) When I'm advancing the throttle from idle and the tach hits 1400 rpm it hesitates and boggs down to about 1250 or 1300 then shoots up to 1500 and onwards. The airplane came out of the annual last month got...

    COMM1 interferes with NAV1 CDI

It really isn't very far. With the on field VOR being out of service, the next closest is 8 miles to the west and the signal has to go straight through a 1400' mountain range...

    COMM1 interferes with NAV1 CDI

I don't have a VOR I can get a good signal from on the ground at my home base. The 2 closest ones offline at this time for a host of reasons.
