    The MyFlightBook thread

Eric I have a PA-24 which has a bunch of ADs at different time in service and calendar intervals. I love that I can track oil changes based off of tach time, I want to do that for ADs too and specifically each AD separately :) If I could I wouldn't need my whiteboard/Google Docs for tracking...

    high performance endorsement (rant)

Correct, it is not. Not having HP would prevent you from acting as PIC of an HP aircraft so you couldn't do HP endorsements as a CFI. Same as a CFI who doesn't have TW

    high performance endorsement (rant)

What's good for the engine is a superset of what's safe. If you want endorsements to teach what's good for the engine you need ones for Turbo, Radial, Big bore, Cowl flaps vs no Cowl flaps etc.... We're getting pretty close to type ratings for props at that point. The goal of the endorsement...

    high performance endorsement (rant)

The question is, what does a 250hr CPL who's only ever done his 10 hrs in an Arrow know that allows him to safely operate a big bore engine like a -470? @dmspilot The engine management characteristics as well as the impact on flight characteristics is noticeable in a lot of birds. The Comanche...

    high performance endorsement (rant)

It seems like C/S prop would be a the deciding factor. Not a lot of delicate engines out there with a fixed pitch prop unless you count the Bonanzas with the electric props, also getting a HP endorsement with a fixed pitch prop doesn't make a lot of sense. Think of it as the C182 endorsement...

    high performance endorsement (rant)

I think of engine management as a complex endorsement topic, but like I said I got mine at the same time. A 201HP with a fixed pitch prop shouldn't take any extra engine management than an O-320

Making it sing was never the requirement as far as I'm aware, being able to recover from a stall should be though :)

    In for paint

These are the limit switches that get closed by the gear fully extending. Not sure how well masking tape would work since you either get gear that isn't painted or the rubber cap painted to the gear or a painter that's a lot more clever than me and jacks the plane up so the gear is in an...

    high performance endorsement (rant)

I got HP and Complex at the same time and it was pretty quick. Seemed like it could also satisfy a BFR since it covers landings, takeoffs and airwork. The only thing I noticed coming from a Warrior was that the stall recovery took a lot more right rudder to hold the nose anywhere near...

    In for paint

Serious question with all the painting of the gear and wheel wells what did they do with the gear switches? Those things are b*tch to get out and reinstall aligned correctly. I can't imagine they love being painted

    Currency question double check?

For the sole manipulator rule to apply he'd also have to be a required crew member. Which in a plane certified for one pilot he isn't with someone else as PIC in the right seat. As soon as the right seater isn't PIC he's a passenger which the guy in the left seat can't carry since he's not...

    Garmin Pilot vs Foreflight

While this is true the legal pad is still WAY faster and easier to use. Lets compare the distraction level copying an ammended full route clearance in the air

    Private pilot written, check

I haven't seen too many DPEs that really stress about the maintenance logs. Keep in mind that the only records they care about are the ones that are current so showing current AD compliance, annual, ELT and W&B should be all you need For a PP ride they may want to talk about owner...

SWA Landing Gear Problem Scares Passengers

Pretty sure their opspec requires it, and they were above FL180 so doubly sure!

    Oil pressure on the yellow

What type of plane/engine? Is this new behavior? One suggestion if this is new is that the sender itself may be bad, but usually high pressure indicates a lack of flow caused by a restriction in the oil system

    Cost Sharing Question

The reality is that nobody cares much in most cases. Common purpose is most narrowly construed as you having a common reason for being in his home town. Perhaps you both want to visit with his parents who you haven't seen in a bit. IMO it would still be common purpose for you to drop him...
