Airspeed reading zero, possible reasons/remedies besides clogged pitot

thanks for that confirmation, yeah it seems like that may be it. during training you learn so much about clogged statics and pitot's but never had anything happen in 10 years of flying. ok I'll leave it alone and work with a mechanic to clean it out. seems like from @Jeff767 this does happen to...

Airspeed reading zero, possible reasons/remedies besides clogged pitot

haha yeah the millennial social media wisdom right :) I know what you're saying. ps. I did read in some manuals how the IFR pitot static verification is done with syringe tubes to verify for leaks... hence i was thinking that a small pressure change (obviously not a 90psi compressor hose!) to...

Airspeed reading zero, possible reasons/remedies besides clogged pitot

thanks for the inputs ryan somorris and rusty. yeah i am suspecting now the pitot tube or its hosing. I am just baffled that it worked just fine a week ago and this weekend it is just zero. although it is pollen season here and some zoo of bugs etc, in 10+ years of flying i never had this...

    Need help with odd question

hi mike, have you checked the service manual for this aircraft type by any chance? I am not a bonanza expert, more in the piper area, for the piper arrows while known to be light in content, the service manual had a phenomenal level of detail that was useful for me.

    PA28R-200 MP/RPM/CHT/%HP etc what is right? IO360C

hey thank for that great info guys! this is very helpful! few responses: that jpi has a backup battery so i am not too worried about it. good to hear you all also feel it is more reliable than that tach and that i am not the only one where the rpm is off by about a 100 at higher rpms :). in fact...

Talk me out of buying a PA-28-180, or not

I searched for a year about for the right plane. Initially I had my heart set for a PA28R-180 (arrow i) but quickly realized that this is really a 2 seater and maybe a kid with little useful load and painful backseat room. so I revectored to arrow iii, but then the extra fuel it carries (and...

hey folks, a topic of much repetitive discussion I guess, but i was looking for some guidance on this. I have this piper arrow ii with all kinds of speed mods (lowpresti/knots2u), electronic ignition system and a JPI, very helpful tools. the problem is the POH numbers don't match what I...

Owning a Saratoga with zero time in model and insurance

hey cheers for that wayne! great thinking, it is a great reason to get up more, learn it better and be better as you say. owning a plane is not a cheap hobby, end of story :) could you say if a saratoga insurance for a new owner of 8-10k is reasonable? (without IR btw) and yes working on that...

Owning a Saratoga with zero time in model and insurance

ah hey thanks for that mondster! never considered self insuringit is an approach indeed. on the other hand, it is that thing we get hammered out of us in aviation to never think "it wont happen to me". So maybe it is an option then to start with a good liability insurance and accept the risk for...
