    JPI EDM log file converter

do you happen to have other devices connecting to the gps info (like an gpss enabled auto pilot or a electronic flight display like an aspen pfd?) that should confirm if the flight plan is automatically pointing to the next (missed approach) waypoint and back to the hold. If that is the case...

    JPI EDM log file converter

hey chip, few things that I know: even in the latest fw that I have, the gps data reads zero and is not easy to decode based on what the implementation says it should. for sure you need a gps input on your EDM to have ground speed, LAT/LONG data. I'll review from teh info that I have what fw...

    JPI EDM log file converter

ah thats very cool @Wize !! yeah the mining that one can do from the engine data is amazing!! if you like to give it a try, install docker desktop and I'll share you the descriptor file to build a container from that descriptor which is then a fully configured and baked linux distro (about 1Gb)...

hi @Wize, to give an update on the windows situation, I have been trying to work with my contacts there to see if there is some way to bypass this "security" situation. because I am not a registered developer for Win, and the sw has not been validated, this is the situation one runs in. For good...

Umbrella policies, waivers of liability to passenger question

appreciate all the helpful insights! some key takeaways I got here is that a) an umbrella would generally not cover aviation, like in my original scenario, but should not be a reason for non coverage b) waivers could help, but are not all covering either c) a trust or llc would not help protect...

Umbrella policies, waivers of liability to passenger question

thank you for the helpful insights midlife and dfw! Could you share, dfw, which insurance carrier for the umbrella you have? I'd be ok with the exclusion, but yeah, I probably stick with family too ... cheers! xander

Umbrella policies, waivers of liability to passenger question

I have a insurance question for you all seeking opinion and options of what is wise to do. For years I had a umbrella policy and for years I owned this awesome piper arrow. Just now my insurance company called me they don't want to extend the umbrella anymore on the upcoming renewal due to the...

    JPI EDM log file converter

hey @wsquare ah thank you for the compliment :) you know when I first contacted them, I got the reply from their 'customer service' rep (jack) to basically bugger off as this was not a priority and I should fire up a virtual machine or get a windows comp (like you did:). I went away with my tail...

    JPI EDM log file converter

can you share a screenshot of some difficulties you are facing? I cross compiled the windows exe through osx/m2 but didnt get a chance to test it. It's probably my bad (laziness) and should fire up a windows dev machine with visual studio to do it correctly and post it as such... But maybe you...

    Bose A20 issues

yah had same thing, but for a $1k headset and the brand itself, I cannot accept this easily... Would call them up and ask for expedited repair (you need to do that ahead of time and mark the box with a red X), you have a legitimate reason being a CFI. If you'd express your disappointment, they...

Is a major overhaul (MOH) required for airworthiness (in part 91)?

let me try old school gopher reply, as that poa func doesn't work well for me :) you: Let me try it this way… no rule, no requirement. This goes toward understanding how the aviation regulatory system works. And given some of your answers here, if you were to increase your knowledge on this you...

Is a major overhaul (MOH) required for airworthiness (in part 91)?

Never mind Bell209, think your post #9 said it all: the stipulation seems to be an ALS, but it also seems to apply to only newer engines and not ones that pre-dated it.

Is a major overhaul (MOH) required for airworthiness (in part 91)?

See, thats the thing... it does not give me that black and white answer... My AP/AI says that unless there is a stipulation in your insurance for coverage, you don't have to. It is a guidance. This also confirmed by the video shared earlier from savvy. exactly! as in my original profession...

Is a major overhaul (MOH) required for airworthiness (in part 91)?

gotcha and fair point. its all such a grey area, because if you have an entry in your logbook, especially after an annual, stating that the aircraft and engine are in airworthy condition, one would assume one is in the green... but to your point, its good to point out if you know something for...

Is a major overhaul (MOH) required for airworthiness (in part 91)?

aha i see, thanks for that detail. I would reckon, or is it fair to assume that the AP/IA, that does an annual or works on your plane to be in the know of such compliance?

Is a major overhaul (MOH) required for airworthiness (in part 91)?

I think I found the answer, it should be documented in the aircraft maintenance manual. It it also seems from other posts that the ALS would then only apply for engines built after that time when the ALS was issued.

Is a major overhaul (MOH) required for airworthiness (in part 91)?

I googled the heck out of it, but could not find anything more conclusive, hence me trying to solicit the input of our fine forum for additional inputs...

Is a major overhaul (MOH) required for airworthiness (in part 91)?

ah superb! great info again, thank you so much! If I have an ALS, where would that be documented precisely? in the Engine log?

Is a major overhaul (MOH) required for airworthiness (in part 91)?

aha thanks for that! that video was quite revealing (for me) btw, that there is no need to do it, and in fact it is a waste of time, effort and dough. I think the general guidance of the oil inspections which I do religiously etc are probably tell you more when it is due for something.
