    Age?

How many hours are you flying a year? If it’s getting below 50, time to give it up in my opinion. I’ve seen a lot of my friends, even though they were healthy and sharp enough, let their hours dip so that they lose their touch/confidence/competence. Even when I was younger, 150 hours great, 100...

    Another ‘Cherokee 180 vs. 235’ thread…

With my 180, I get 145mph(125kts) at 6-8T on 8.5 gph at gross(if I’m up for4 hours) the first hour would be 10 gph)

    Another ‘Cherokee 180 vs. 235’ thread…

Extra horsepower usually helps with payload much more than airspeed/efficiency. If you need the useful load, 235 is the way to go, efficiency and economy more important l, go with 180. Speed difference is 15 kts at best. Few 235 get better than 14gph while 9gph for 180. 2 or less souls, 180, 3...

    Cherokee 180 with c/s prop

My guess is 125 kts tops. Better climb, cruise +/-, nose heavy due to weight of governor and less useful load. I would not consider it worth the CSP, and I own a 172 with the 180hp/CSP Alcon conversion. Air Plains thought the CSP Prop was not worth it for their 180 hp conversions for the 172 and...

My wife and dog were killed in a car accident. How to get help without revoking medical?

As others have suggested, the counseling and some drugs are not the problem, it’s the diagnosis and circumstances. Situational depression can happen to any normal person.

    No Polarization Sunglasses

What is your refraction? Pupil diameter? What frame do you desire? Does the frame fit your face/bridge? Is the weight of lens/frame going to be comfortable? Frame needs to be adjusted to face before the pupil distance is marked for the lens? One cannot determine if the frame is comfortable until...

Your brother and any other family members having migraines(with or without headaches) increase the possibility this might be a migraine, but unusual for the first attack at age 63. Now if you had migraines as a child, then none till now, this is very common. Usually after a migraine, even...

    Aviation Writer Len Morgan

I think that was “fat Albert” who amassed more hours at the time than any other 747. It spent ? 70%(just guessing) of its life in the air. The Honolulu tower thought all Braniff’s 747’s were painted pumpkin, he did not realize they only had one that flew round trip each day.

    Back Surgery and Resuming Flying

Until you stop worrying about bending, twisting, and especially getting out of the aircraft. I had L1-L5 fusion and it took me 9 mos till I felt comfortable handling the push, pull, twisting and basic insecurities. I’m sure you will feel comfortable sooner.

    Flying with pets

As a pilot that takes my Yorkie with the family flying 50% of the time, we find some trips it’s easier to leave him with a trusted dog sitter. We pay her handsomely, they enjoy him immensely, and best of all “Boots” has a better time with her 2 cats, 4 dogs, fenced yard, than caged trying to...

Oil color changes quickly - need advice

If running great, low oil usage, good compressions, I’d keep flying it, might get a boroscope at annual. I had similar symptoms on my 0 360 and put a thousand hours on it till I finally overhauled it. Each engine is unique.

    IOLs which kind

Multifocal's have advantages and disadvantages. As a retired ophthalmologist, I will have a single vision IOL and wear trifocals like I have done for 35 yrs. I’m not about to try and adapt to halos or other distortion. Luckily, my vision is still excellent, but my time will come(if I’m lucky). A...

What was the first aviation related book that you read?

+1 on “We”. Still have the book, but never reread it. Was not the best aviation book by far.
