Oh, good.. someone made a video comparing it on the GoPro. Pay attention to the 300% zoom comparisons between 4K an 1080 (keep in mind this is AFTER downscaling to 1080):
Doesn't 4K get you higher bitrate? In that case, it might be worth it to go 4K vs. 1080 for higher image quality even if you eventually render at 1080.
Watch this video (posted last month) starting at 3:22. Without a takeover, there would have been a dead motorcyclist.
I don't know how long it will be before you don't have to watch the Autopilot like a hawk, but something tells me it will be awhile.
Will we be able to do it? Most likely. Soon? I doubt it. Look at some of the visualizations of what the Tesla cameras "see". It is a (relatively) primitive system heavily reliant on painted lines. It has problems with faded lines, rocky roadsides, and sharp curves. At present there is little in...
Pardon my skepticism.. I have watched videos of Tesla Autopilot on good roads, and it alternates between granny mode (taking curves at speeds which will get you honked at) and teenager mode (does great 99% of the time, the other 1% you have to take over so it doesn't kill you).
Hopefully that's enough. I seem to trigger massive eastern snowstorms every time I plan a trip. One thing I learned.. don't cut it close. I had a flight into Charlotte canceled even though it would have been 8 hours before a storm hit. The thinking is that the airlines want to send planes away...
Is "Roger" an acceptable reply to an altimeter reading? I believe I tried it once, and the tower repeated it like they wanted a readback instead of just a Roger.
So it appears that Jesse's worst-case-scenario didn't come to pass. But how can you know if it's just a friendly chat, or a witch hunt? We might as well all stop making jokes online. Bryan's original comment, clearly sarcastic, resulted in some hassle and stress for him. What a ridiculous world...
I think I know the feeling, especially compared to a trip where you're driving. My mind is always a bit preoccupied when I have a cross country flight in the next 24 hours.
True enough, although it can be a harder sell to your passengers sometimes.
I think the "float" might be part of the problem with over controlling. My problem was too much time in the float, too much time to try and control things while the speed bled off. Once I started landing slower with less float, things got a lot better.
I'll second this. I had "passable" landings during training, but never felt that comfortable with them. Sometime after becoming a private pilot, things clicked a lot better.
If they were Part 107, in Class G airspace, perfectly legal. And not necessarily irresponsible. Drone pilots are able to see and avoid, too.
Side note: If it was a hobby flight, no permission required either. Only notification.
Yes. The pilot in the crash below was flying a night cross country, and suddenly found clouds. When he went to make a 180, he got a terrain alert, pulled up, and crashed into a mountain (soft enough to survive though)...
Can't wait to see it scan for traffic, deal with gusty crosswinds, or communicate/negotiate with a busy pattern CTAF field.
(Should have made it a Cirrus so it can do a 10 mile straight in, traffic or no traffic)
