    Multiple VOR/LOC/GS

We are getting ready to update our panel and the only things we’ll be keeping from the current stack is a kx155 and ki209. We’ll be installing a gns430w and G5 hsi. My question is what are the opinions on keeping or getting rid of the ki209? We plan to use this plane to get our IR and probably...

    Transponder low wattage

@denverpilot I think we may have found at least a large, if not the sole, contributor to our issue. On the 3rd flight after the transponder check we lost the alternator. If it was weak or intermittent then our battery was likely a little drawn down. Headed to Tulsa now to get a plane power unit...

    Transponder low wattage

Not sure but possibly for a few reasons. I did tell him that this was only temporary and that within the next 2 months we’d be redoing it all. Currently have a kma24, kx155 and now the axp340 and we’ll end up with amx240, gns430w, kx155, and the axp340. I’ll for sure make sure everything is...

    Transponder low wattage

So we just installed an Avidyne axp340 in our piper Cherokee and took it to the avionics shop for a vfr transponder check. Everything worked out great and was well within tolerances but the wattage was on the low side at 160 watts. This install was just a temporary one u til we get the harness...

    PA 28-180 First Annual

We bought it right enough and planned a major overhaul due to time that this plane has sat in the past. We planned for worst case scenarios and so far it’s been best case ones Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    PA 28-180 First Annual

The harness cost me just under $1500. I haven’t received it yet but have been told that their product is top notch. I’ll do a prep on it once I get it. As of now we have a kma24 with one of the portable intercoms. The harness will have both the pilot and copilot jacks prewired and soldered up...

    PA 28-180 First Annual

Cost me $300 for the inspection and another 3-400 in miscellaneous parts, tools, oil, filter, etc. To say I’m stoked does not adequately describe the relief Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    PA 28-180 First Annual

Forgot to mention that the #4 cylinder compression was low but the plane has been sitting for a while so the a&p and I are hoping that with us running it here regularly that it will re seat the rings in that cylinder and bring up the compression closer to the others. PA 28-180 First Annual

Well after our piper Cherokee purchase a little over a month ago we did the first annual today. I prepped the plane yesterday and pulled all the inspection panels for the IA. Only findings were the gascolator drain and the alternator belt. We needed to pull the plug in the snout of the crank for...

For Sale CFI needed in SW Missouri

Where at in SW Missouri? Joplin regional has Alpha Air Center and Mizzou Aviation that instruct. I know of one in NE Oklahoma and another in NW Arkansas but they do not do it full time. Summit aviation is in NW arkansas as well.

    Battery caused corrosion

I know this is common but had a couple questions. My Cherokee 180 has a Gill artery that has given up the ghost and we are replacing it with a sealed Concorde unit. There is some corrosion on the box and around the drains in the empennage. I will be removing the battery box and all associated...

    IFR Panel for Training

whereas a 3d model would be nice you could very simply lay it out in 2d. You would just need to ensure proper clearances for mounting depth.

    IFR Panel for Training

    Sounds similar to what I'm doing. I will end up with a gns430w, G5 HSI, kx155 w/gs, KI209, axp340 and amx240. Keeping the KI209 just because it's already there

    Built a New Computer

Your problem may be twofold with the RAM and the GPU. Ram is relatively cheap and should yield good results. When building my next machine my plan is to have 2 SSD and run them in RAID 0. As long as my RAM, GPU and chipset are up to the task, that machine should fly even when heavily loaded.

    Buying a trainer plane???

My only thought about those 2 aircraft for training purposes would be to check on insurance that allows you to rent it out to students. With both of those being HP my guess would be that insurance would be substantially more for a training plane as opposed to a 172 or pa-28.

Airplane Engine in A Car Accident

My thoughts would be that the forces experienced by the engine after the flipped truck could have caused many different issues that you could be chasing for years. Cracks or stresses in the case and other hardware that may not rear their ugly heads until its heat cycled many times. I agree that...

Spark plug gaskets - replace or not?

As little as they cost why not just replace them. Order enough to change them 2-3 times and just rotate your inventory. That way, if your shop doesn’t have any then you hand them your stock and order replacements whenever you get a chance. Any crush washer is designed as a 1 time use since they...

    G5 question

I was mistaken about some of the instruments as it had been a little while since I had seen the aircraft. It is looking like I won't be able to move the VSI to where the current VCC is. As for the general layout of my plan what do y'all think about it? Also, I read some interesting...

    G5 question

I’m sure I’m just overlooking the info but I had a question about the G5 DG/HSI. I’m going to be putting one in a Cherokee 180C that has the shotgun panel. In top left corner of the panel is a whiskey compass and there is also a vertical card compass just above the pilot’s yoke. My question is...
