New poll - fuel for VFR flight

Well last night we thought we started with more fuel that we did, but we were about to leave Roswell and checked the fuel. Gauges were indicating half tank, but tank looked a bit lower. We knew we had enough for maybe 45 minutes extra but it would be close. Normally in this situation i would...

    All runways are equal

I clicked on the thread thinking it was meaning equal as in, no matter how wide or narrow, pilots tend to use the runway. Such as when I landed at Roswell yesterday, I used proportionately the same amount of runway to each side as i do when i land at Muleshoe which is teeny and narrow. Just an...

Turning off the runway after landing

From my experience, which is somewhat limited, either tower or ground will tell you which taxiway to take. They usually wait for you to have slowed to a reasonable speed. There isnt a whole lot you can do at a controlled field that you actually have to think about. Anything that might be...

Scary Landing / Confidence Takes It

I was kind of surprised to read this post. This is EXACTLY what happened to me yesterday. Like down to a tee. I was chatting with my instructor at KCVN, and he signs me off for my first solo XC. Of course I'm pretty excited, it's a very nice day absolutely no wind when I take off, but I begin...

    FIRST SOLO

Yes it was super fun! It was kind of neat too, landings finally clicked in my head, I dont feel like landings are so procedural anymore, it was like I was just landing the plane, no big deal. There was a decent crosswind component as well, so that made me happy.

    Fly Baby

That fits the description he has given me. He said he was very fortunate to get such a well built airplane as his first owned plane. He said it had a C85-12 if I remember correctly.

    Fly Baby

Ron I figured you might be familiar with the fly baby that was my CFI's first plane. It was N2288C. He said it was destroyed beyond repair from wind damage, but I do believe it is in the first few pages of the build manual where all of the different pictures of the fly baby's are.
