    United Airlines customer service

That ignores a big input into the situation - the nut bag who decided to act a fool. No way could United have expected the guy to behave the way he did. As has been said many times, when crew tells you to leave - you need to leave and take up your issue elsewhere.

    United Airlines customer service

They try their best to get volunteers to take the stupid vouchers/guaranteed upgraded seat/etc. However, when they don't get their volunteers, they have to pay out the cash because they are now into involuntary territory. Have seen gate agents have to call a supervisor onto plane, who then...

And, while everyone tweets/facebooks/whines that they'll never fly United again, Joe/Jane Q Public will pick them the very next trip they have if they are $1 cheaper than American, Southwest, or whoever.

And United didn't do that, they just get stuck with the rap. However, they've done nothing to soothe the masses - that's for sure!

I agree with you Chuck on the reasonableness of everyone reading and, even more so, understanding the COC or the EULA on any piece of software or app. However, not having read the EULA isn't a defense when Microsoft comes after you.

    A) Don't know if they did or didn't do that. B) It's all in the COC and I'm sure they'd have happily done that and paid him his money once he'd got off their plane. He chose to make it worse.

    United Airlines customer service

Agreed - United does seem to have a knack for stepping into crap piles with less than grace.

And in the United case scenario, there is a long agreement that says what happens when they can't accommodate you as you've paid for.

    United Airlines customer service

And for the record, I'm not particularly a United lover - I actually travel very little by the airlines anymore and almost always in paid first, so it is better when I do. However, this guy created 100% of his own problem by refusing to leave when he was told to and fighting the security trying...

OK - Be mad at them, don't eat there again, tell people they suck, but they owe you nothing.

How did you determine that? Dude got involuntarily bumped, good for $625 or $1350 depending on how long it took them to accommodate him on another flight. He refused to leave, becoming a trespasser at that point and the airport security removed him. Buying the ticket does not grant you any...

Houston area ways to fill time

Aerobatic, unusual attitude recovery, or tail wheel is a tough one at Hooks. If you're open to going to the south side of Houston, check out http://www.texastaildraggersinc.com/ at KAXH (Houston Southwest) or http://www.harveyrihn.com/index.html at T41 (LaPorte on southeast side). Both will be...

27 year old captain at major airline?

It is a strong possibility. Even with the replies saying that Delta has even younger captains on the MD/717 fleets, the conversation is still overwhelmingly about how she doesn't deserve it.

Choosing a CFI... old guy/gal or young guy/gal?

Perfectly said. I had three primary instructors. Two wanted to be there, loved teaching and loved being in the air. My first instructor was a very young CFI who kept his focus on his students and shared his knowledge and love of aviation, even when interviewing with Comair (back in the 90s) -...

Planning first Coast to Coast flight - Need tips (Long)

Well, considering this is the first time I've replied to one of your posts, it seems you're not observant in addition to being obstinent. Lot of good people here tried to offer you valuable input, but you just want to argue. Are you really Tom Downey? You are just about as entertaining as he is...

Doubt it - he has a PPL w/IR and plenty of good experience in over 600 hours. You got what you got because you've not even started training to the PPL. What you received was a good dose of realistic advice.

Property tax harassment by our greedy county

I never heard another thing from them in both my cases. The first time, the plane in question (PA28-180 registered in my name) was based in a Harris County and I lived there at the time. I simply wrote what Spike said on the form and mailed it in. Should take care of it.
