    CO1404 off runway at DIA

Rudder boost, rudder bias, TAC...whatever you want to call it is a certification requirement. If the airplane in question requires more than 150 pounds of force on the rudder pedal for you to maintain directional control in an engine out situation, you're going to have some type of...

    LPV beats out ILS

Wow! It's nice to be missed so thank you all. I've got to tell you that like many of you, I'm looking forward to flying WAAS too. That's right, I've never flown a WAAS procedure as a checker or as a user. I don't fly any of our new NAS aircraft (Lear 60, Challenger 601 or 604) so it's all pretty...

    New Oklahoma Storms

Peggy, thank you for asking! We had a monster of a cell roll over our house last night. Very vivid lightning, high winds and remarkably not one drop of rain. The only casualty of the evening was Molly, my Black Lab, who seems to have pulled a muscle begging for comfort cookies. :)

    Why is an ADF required?

    Giving up now.

    Why is an ADF required?

No consideration is given to what you can substitute this or that for. You need the ADF for the reasons mentioned in my post on 5/22/08 on 11:09. It is all about providing a pilot with positive course guidance until inside of the service volume of the primary NAVAID which in this case is the LOC.

    Why is an ADF required?

Gents. Go back and read my post from 5/22/08 at 11:21 PM. It's not a feeder because it can't be a feeder and it has nothing to do with the VOR. It has everything to do with the inability of the LOC to show you off course for the huge segment from the VOR to the LOC service volume while the LOC...

    Why is an ADF required?

Thank you Harry. Nosehair, I can't seem to find the feature you mention on the NACO L-29.

    Why is an ADF required?

This is one of those times I wish I had enroutes hanging around. One of three things; either that's what ATC wanted when the fix was requested OR that's the lowest altitude that the LOC worked reliably at the fix distance OR that's the lowest altitude that the frequency management folks would...
