    Cubs2Oshkosh for the 75th

With 100 days to go until AirVenture 2012, I thought I might run through some thoughts of mine for the trip so that you might point out something I may have missed. There is still time to make changes and add those things that will make the trip more interesting and enjoyable. As of yesterday...

Heads-up > there could be twenty-five B-25s on the field this April

It is my understanding that there will be many, many war birds other than the 22 B-25s on the field this weekend. Remember, there is always room for Cubs. http://www.urbanacitizen.com/main.asp?SectionID=3&SubSectionID=5&ArticleID=159639

Heads-up > there could be twenty-five B-25s on the field this April

Could not get my Cub out of the hanger all weekend in 2010. That green B-25 at the bottom of the picture was blocking my way. Yet, was loving it!

Not transponders as everyone is asked to turn them off on approach. They tell me that everyone else is to be on the ground when we arrive. I wish I could tell you more but then I would have to ...... When the details are out, I will let you know.

    Cubs2Oshkosh for the 75th

Yes, the Cubs will be limited to 75 aircraft for the Monday 5 P. M. flight. As far as I know, all of the other groups do not arrive in waivered airspace. They may have waivers but do not use waivered airspace. It is different. All of the rules for this special mass flight of Cubs is still a...

    Cubs2Oshkosh for the 75th

It is my understanding that the FAA allocates to the EAA a block of time for the air show as waivered air space. The time from 5 P.M. till 6 P.M. is a part of that waivered time. And yes, it will be a time when the average Cub pilot can perform a not too many bounce landing in front of thousands.

If I were an aviation mechanic working on magnetos, I would be concerned about timing issues. As you read about the scheduling of events for the Cubs at AirVenture this year, the timing might look a little bit off for the Cub mass flight into Oshkosh. Every pilot knows that they must be flexible...

Heads-up > there could be twenty-five B-25s on the field this April

There will be at least 24 B-25s arriving on Saturday April 14th. They will stay in Urbana on display and giving rides until Tuesday. If the weather is good, they will launch at 7.A.M Tuesday, one every 90 seconds for the short flight to Dayton. You will be able to walk amongst the B-25s on...

    Cubs2Oshkosh for the 75th

When I attend flying events with the Cub, I always have something to give to kids that will help them remember the name of my aircraft. If I don’t have enough Cub tattoos, I give them a Piper Cub paper model that they can build. The Cub Club supplies me with the tattoos and I print the Piper Cub...

Heads-up > there could be twenty-five B-25s on the field this April

I had a super time two years ago and am looking forward to their return this April to Grimes Field Urbana, Ohio. Although I enjoy flying my Cub, there is just something unique about the sound that all of those big round engines create when preparing for takeoff. For more information goto ->...

Happy New Year and welcome to the Year of the Piper Cub. With only 199 days till AirVenture 2012, and less for many other flying venues, it’s time to make that Cub airworthy. As I stated in the January/February Cub Club newsletter, let’s think about participating in several maximum effort...

    Cubs2Oshkosh for the 75th

One of the purposes of www.cubs2oshkosh.com is to get a good early feel from Cub owners about their interest in flying a Cub to Oshkosh. With little publicity to date, around 40 Cub owners have expressed their goal of flying a Cub to Oshkosh next year. As it is much more fun to fly with a...

    Cubs2Oshkosh for the 75th

Craig, Thanks for the offer. If you could get your group to slow down a lot, maybe we could just tag along. If not, we are planning to stay clear of all other traffic by using a low and slow approach. Because of your work with the EAA, the EAA understands how to work with large groups. As...
