Really heavy fog where I was this morning. The people that pilot those weird wingless mechanisms were advised to "drive safe" this morning. I might venture a guess that, if the fog was around at the time - and was dense, that between the fog and the runway lights, it just didn't register...

Update: all levels came back as normal, and lifestyle adjustment brought the testosterone right up where it should be. All is better now,

Glad the crew made it out. hope they recover soon! It might be one more off of the books, but those are beautiful aircraft, stunning... and I hate to see one go.

This makes me wonder if there is not more to the story than meets the eye... Might the authorities be concerned that this could be a test of emergency resource distraction tactics? Hopefully not. Feel free to give me heck on that one.

I have wanted to fly my whole life. Just this last weekend I was lost in a dreamworld hearing my great uncle talk about his days as a B17 pilot. He doesn't volunteer the stories, but when I ask, he opens up, and I am transported to a dreamworld as he talks - albeit without the terrifying...

I'd like to see pics of the end of the runway as well. Is it banded in concrete? From the looks of that wheel, any asphalt "corner" would certainly show the point of contact. Shouldn't you also be able to see where the forks touched down?

Rock salt actually allows the ice to become liquid at or very close to freezing. In ice cream-making, that gives you more surface area/ better heat transfer while at or near 32deg. Added to ice after the fact, it won't lower the temp of ice - just makes the freezing point of h2o lower. So...
