Guys, you’re forgetting it’s a rental. Just leave the throttle and prop all the way in until you’re ready to slow down and land. The constant speed prop will adjust the pitch to avoid over speeding. The only thing you’ll have to learn is how to adjust the mixture to make sure you’re making Full...
I recently switched to using ForeFlight’s logbook primarily. It has the ability to tag flights for currency, so if I tag a flight as an IPC, for example, it will automatically calculate my IFR currency. Do you think it’s enough to tag an entry with the IPC or Flight Review tag, or in the...
I remembered this from last year: https://www.extremetech.com/extreme/281603-police-pull-over-self-driving-tesla-with-sleeping-man-behind-the-wheel
The cops had to create a rolling roadblock and slowly bring the Tesla to a stop.
I would also be making a call to the owner or manager of the landscaping business and letting them know what their employee or contractor was doing in a truck bearing their brand.
That looks like a ton of fun.
I don’t consistently fly a plane that has an autopilot, so I’ve never learned to count on one for an approach. I’m going to have to work on that. I would have been stressed planning that diversion while IMC.
Can you get weather on the ground at North Fox, or do...
VMC with a safety pilot I don’t think it would have been a problem. IMC with an IFR rated safety pilot I probably would have pressed on, knowing the safety pilot was my “out” making sure things didn’t get too out of hand.
What really stopped me we’re the fact that the next two approaches...
I had a similar situation. I had my license suspended for a speeding violation when I was 16. I went for my 3rd class a year later and answered yes to the question and explained myself to the AME. He was extremely helpful and said he needed the court records. He said that if I could get the...
With Katamarino levels of preparation I’m game. A group of people took my club’s A36 around the world and did a 10 hour leg direct from Japan to Alaska. Makes it seem not so impossible with the right preparation.
I get dyslexic with directions. All the time. I’ve learned now just to own up to it, but right after I got my license I was for some reason concerned with trying to save face with the controller. So when I realized I had mistakenly asked to depart West instead of East, I called back and told him...
I don’t know what’s going on in the Cleveland area, but we’re getting spammed with NOTAMs saying for airports near Akron/Canton, Cleveland will not issue clearances when Akron/Canton is open. Which is exactly what the A/FD says. But every airport in the area has at least one NOTAM to that effect.
Today I had some free time and the weather was conducive to logging some approaches. I drew up a plan that involved 6 approaches at 6 different airports in the area, two ILSs followed by 3 VOR approaches in quick succession, then an ILS back into home base.
The first approach was definitely an...
My parents have been vegan for a while now, so I’ve had lots of exposure to the Impossible burger. I agree with most of the sentiments above, it’s good. Stay far, far away from vegan cheese, though. It’s an oily, gloppy mess.
A guy on Beechtalk said that if there is a RCO or GCO they won’t have a phone number. He says that will be rectified in the August update or thereabouts.
I’m on my phone right now so I can’t confirm, but I think Amazon will let you buy a season of a show. Depending on the provider it may release episodes right after they air or at the end of the season. If you can be patient that’s a good alternative.
I’ve shot dozens of practice approaches at 90 knots with no flaps in both a 35 and 36 Bonanza. No problem.
I’d probably put in flaps to follow the proverbial Cub at 70, though.
Native Clevelander here. Your routing will definitely work. You could probably get EWC DJB KONZ if you were IFR at or above 4000 and didn’t mind the additional water exposure. Or just go VFR or IFR above at 8000 right over the top. You’ll probably want the altitude over the lake anyway...
