Rant: Exercising PIC, no not that PIC

How does a plane with those issues get through a 100-hour or annual?
  3. StraightnLevel

Yes, the right answer is always "Bonanza"

I have known this plane and the owner for a long time, and have flown it as recently as last week. I went over the plane with an ABS guy before bidding, and there are a couple of things that will get done as quickly as I can get them scheduled.

Another unleaded 100LL replacement approved (Swift 100R)

I'm having a hard time seeing it make sense financially and effort-wise unless you have no choice but to use a fuel that is not available at your home field. Wouldn't it make more sense to get 55 gal drums delivered to your hangar?

LOL...yeah, reality and insurance quotes adjusted my expectations! In all seriousness, a Bo should be capable enough to keep me going at least until I build enough experience for something bigger.....maybe longer.

Another unleaded 100LL replacement approved (Swift 100R)

This seems like a really useful tool for someone who needs a unique fuel, or often flies out of a strip without fuel service.

I alternate between my office in Houston (KLVJ) and our farm in Wisconsin (KETB). This plane is resident at KETB already, so it will remain there for a while, then go back and forth between the two. Tip tanks were a requirement for this purchase!

Already there, and the pre-buy info there was VERY helpful.

I have multiple residences; primaries are KETB (West Bend, WI) and KLVJ (Pearland, TX). Plane is at KETB for now.

    [NA] e-SIM card, travel

I use AT&T (pre-pay plan, unlocked phone) and I'm currently in the UK. Canada and Mexico are part of the basic plan. Temporary international (Europe, etc.) roaming with data access costs $35/week, and has been that way for as many years as I can remember. The only time I've ever had an issue...

    Size of hangar

SEP? :dunno: That Norden is REALLY small and light, and isn't representative of the majority of GA planes. A basic Cessna 172 has a wingspan more than 36 feet, more than 27 ft long, and 9 ft high. Look at the Piper Malibu: 43 ft wingspan, 30 ft length, 11.25 ft tail height. Admittedly a...

    Size of hangar

Also, double check height. A 10-foot roll-up door that leaves a few inches showing will exclude a lot of planes. Ex: Cessna 210 is 9'8".

    Size of hangar

If It were me, I would want to build something with a size and door width that would fit any plane I can ever foresee myself, one of my kids, or a prospective property buyer owning. Just the other day I saw a property listed with a hangar that was sized very precisely for the owner's small...

Cheapest way to build retract time

My farm is near that Fleet Farm location. The ethanol free pump is low octane (87, IIRC), so it's good for lawnmower/tractor use, but not in my car. I'm not sure that I'd put 87 into a plane, but opinions vary. It's on the far side of town from KETB....

Depends where in the Midwest. In parts of Wisconsin it's effectively unavailable, but ubiquitous in some other areas.

That depends on where you live. Try finding it at any reasonable distance from KLVJ, for example. The only option anywhere near KETB is from a home goods store - low octane lawnmower fuel. I have more 100LL options (4) within 25 miles of my airport than ethanol free gas pumps (0).
