    Cold calling airplane owners

That's probably not a bad way to go. As far as calling goes, I would think that as long as an actual purchase is a stated intent (and not just "knowledge gathering" chat), a person would feel less put upon and irked by a call.

    Cold calling airplane owners

I've spent half of my career cold calling mineral owners to lease their interests. That information gathering all starts with what's in the public record, naturally. I've found that as long as you make it understood within the first few seconds of the call that you're not trying to sell them...

    Flying Club Buy-In

I don't have anything to add that is of any value here, other than that sounds like something I'd be all over if SWO weren't a 5 minute drive from my house. I wish something like that was available right here, because the one flight rental outfit/flight school here is constantly booked up. It's...

    3 strike rule

While I wouldn't particularly want to STRICTLY abide by "three strikes" in the specific scenario you laid out and scrub that flight, by "calling out" those strikes, you would at least be well aware of the fact that you were not on top of your game on that day and probably much more deliberate or...

Advice for new pilot flying into Colorado Springs

I'd also recommend Cave of the Winds park.

    I just don't get it...

EDIT - @SoCal RV Flyer made my point below more succinctly. A tip of the cap to you. It should be understood that "capacity" with regard to available beds isn't the only metric that matters in terms of being overwhelmed or not. Staffing is the major issue. My fiancée is a nurse for an...

    Putting on a Fly-in/Airshow

Not sure about any warbird specs/abilities. If you haven't already thought about them, I think the folks that own the Miss America P-51 (and a couple of other warbirds) up at PWA tend to be generous with making "local" appearances. If I'm not mistaken, it's all run through the Oklahoma Museum of...

No TSA Checkpoints at more than 2500 GA Airports! Annd here we go

"Carlson...socialized with Hollywood’s A-list. He claimed to have once befriended neighbor and legendary actor Dick Van Dyke." I had to laugh at these consecutive statements. The author of this article apparently hasn't checked the membership of Hollywood's A-list since 1964.

    Straightest Flight ever?

Did KGTU (Georgetown, TX) to KGOK (Guthrie, OK) a few years ago. Was given a slight right after takeoff to clear the Ft. Hood MOA & Restricted airspace, then pretty much a heading of 360 heading for the next 2.5 hours with a only a slight adjustment at the end to make a straight-in to Rwy 34.

    Non-Equity partnerships.

@midlifeflyer It's not anything I'd take issue with. When I was seeking out a non-equity partnership earlier (I still am, FWIW), I had some folks state that they worried that entering into a "non-equity partnership" would be towing the line of being "renting their plane while skirting the...

    Non-Equity partnerships.

I think you probably nailed it on the head with the "...greatly depending on the person I'm in partnership with" line. Others may say you're riding a line with regard to "renting" the plane and the FAR's, but not sure how that pans out. I know that I've been seeking someone to let me have a...

Traffic deconfliction at an uncontrolled airspace

I understood you to mean midfield on takeoff - or put another way, at midfield on the "upwind" leg after taking off and still directly over the runway; not midfield downwind. Seems that most are interpreting you as implying the latter and not the former.
