You too, could go Down in Flames.

Pilot is a pipeline patrol. He said the ELT battery caught fire & didn’t smell smoke until he was on final.

    Ground External Power with G1000

I use a Start Pac, but often have to wiggle the plug into the recepticle on my C-182T just right to get the negative current draws to go away.

    The Bone is grounded

That B-1B was at KMAF. Mishap was an engine failure that took out the adjacent engine as well. This problem at that time called for the crew to eject. When the aircraft commander started the eject sequence, the hatch(s) blew off but nothing else happened. That all occured about 10 miles from...

Ever get permission to fly through R-5107B?

My only experience transiting R-5107B was while riding thru on a Southwest flight one Sunday. I understand it’s consistantly busy.

The perfect GA airplane, in my opinion (looking for critique)

I fly all over NM in my C-T182T quite well. Range is great; speed good enough to daytrip Houston from my base.

    Sexy Sue

Kinda reminds me of the (?) Texas Raiders B-17 nose art of a few years back before she got cold or whatever and covered up.

    The Improbable Turn

I recall being taught to not kick rudder to straighten up an overshot short final leg. So, be coordinated.

    G1000 Training

A relatively low time VFR pilot learning the utility of the G1000 is all about muscle memory. The G1000 offers a lot and the knobs and the information they get to is best learned on the ground. And, practice often. Watch the YouTube videos. Get Max Trescott’s book. The version of my G1000 is...

Shock cooling - and related damage. is it a myth?

The POH for my C-T182T is silent as to shock cooling. Lyc TIO-540-AK1A It does mention that on extended let-downs to keep cowl flaps closed (unless hot conditions) so as to keep CHT at approximately two-thirds of the normal operating range (green arc: 200 degF to 500 degF).

    John Young flown west

I remember the picture of John Young on the first orbital shuttle mission wearing readers. Another definition of a badass old man pilot.

5 related adults dead in Cessna 340 crash

Runways at KBOW aren’t even a mile long. Mishap pilot wadded his plane up beside the runway, it looks like. Did he even have time or distance to get disoriented or did he just hit something and run off the road?

    Flu/pneumonia shots

I’ve not experienced any discomfort to the level of grounding myself after getting the flu shot. If anything, exercise & keep your arm limber to minimize any soreness. Maybe the next day it will be noticeable for some.

    Ratchet Straps for Tie Down?

The POH for my C-T182T specifies 700 lb rated line for tiedown. I suppose when a load exceeding 700 lbf is imposed on the tiedown, I’ve got other problems.

    Tie down knot

The POH for my C-182 says to use 700 lb test line for tie down. Perhaps after 700 lbf is applied to the tiedown rings something else will be the main problem?

    Coyotes Chase Planes LOL!

Last year at KODO the new HondaJet was on demo tour and struck a coyote on takeoff, declared emergency and landed at KMAF. Believe the engine ingested some ‘yote debris.
