    Our move to Texas

In the old days before center consoles you could ride 3 people in a regular cab pickup—4 if they had skinny butts or were friendly.

    TX coast

Rockport airport is only a couple of miles from Fulton Harbor. They will arrange a rental car or you can Uber to The Inn At Fulton Harbor which overlooks the Marina. Also is across the street from Charlotte Plumbers restaurant and the Moon Dog Restaurant and Bar. We were there last weekend...

Training has stalled. Advice sought. What would you do in my position?

Fly one and form your own opinions. Your testosterone will not go down because it has no rudder pedals.

Training has stalled. Advice sought. What would you do in my position?

Strictly for time building consider an Ercoupe. All metal except the wings and some have metalized wings. You can find a good one for $30,000. They are super easy and fun to fly. You can get an STC for mogas (non eth,)

Request Comments on my hangar build design

When I was designing my hangar I found it helpful to make cut outs of airplanes to scale and see how they fit in the size I was thinking about. The first thing to decide is what door you are going to use. The hangar is designed around that. If you would ever consider adding a mezzanine consider...

    Which audio panel to buy?

I have a KMA24 audio panel and a PS1000 11 intercom. When I turn on the intercom my copilot cant hear the radio unless I go into the settings on the SL40 and increase the phone audio. Also, the pilots sidetone has to be adjusted for that position to have sidetone. Is this a wiring issue? I’m...

    182 vs early Bo?

Time difference on your trips won't be too much UNLESS you have a big headwind. It's torture to be on a long trip and see double digit groundspeeds. If you ever plan to fly four adults and any baggage you need to calculate weight and balance for the particular airplane you are considering at...

Does any one repair KNS80 anymore?

Might be better off just getting a working one. Thats what I have done. They are plentiful and cheap. Be sure to get inspection privileges so you don't get another busted one. Ebay is a poor place to find one.

New Member - Possible Seneca II Acquisition Qs?

I owned a 76 model Seneca II for 10 years and 1400 hours. It was a very reliable machine and very roomy and comfortable and quiet. My wife loved the big rear door. She would ride back there--by herself usually and read or nap. Mine had forward seating and that worked fine. There is tons of...

    Borescope Opinion

the maximum allowable oil consumption limits for all Textron Lycoming aircraft engines can be determined by using the following formula: .006 x BHP x 4 / 7.4 = Qt./Hr. About 1 qt. per hour for 300 HP if my calculation is correct

    Withholding aircraft after maintenance

There is an FAA mechanics lien form that they can file in Oklahoma City that will show up on a title search as a lien.

If you're in the Southwest US and haven't flown the Baja... you're missing out BIGTIME!

I envy you California guys. From Texas it's not an easy trip. San Antonio to Chihuahua for fuel and customs. From there over Copper canyon and the Sea of Cortez to Baja. You have to have a lot of confidence in your equipment.

Climb power - MCP or 25" squared

Probably depends on the engine but with 4 cyl. lycomings like my J model Mooney has I think it is common practice to climb at MCP and RPM. The engine is rated to run like that all day long. As long as the engine is cool I don't think you are going to hurt anything and you need the power to...

    Tell me about Twins...

I flew a Seneca 11 for 10 years. What I liked: Nose and aft baggage, tons of room in the wide cabin, large useful load, quiet cabin, vmc of 66 knots, docile s.e. handling, s.e. service ceiling of 13,000+ feet, rear door for loading pasengers. It is stable which is what you want in a cross...

    IFR Navigation in WW2?

The mission to intercept and shoot down Adm. Yamamoto is the most amazing dead reconing exhibition I can imagine. 600 miles to get there (not direct to avoid detection) and 400 mile return to base. They arrived at the rendezvous point 1 minite early. The P38s were equipped with ships compasses.

what am I doing wrong here ?

I'm not saying there is anything wrong with a 7,000 hour airframe but it is perceived as less desirable by some and therefore would be harder to sell. I didn't mean to give offense but you asked for honest responses. Right or wrong I think a low time airframe sells for more money and quicker...

what am I doing wrong here ?

I have been vaguely looking at Lances and had looked at your ad. i agree with what cowman said except the 7,000+ is more of a turnoff for me. I am looking for AC which your airplane apparently does not have. The 530 is OK but old technology. If it had air and lower TT I might be interested...
