    Position of Autopilot control

I've flown plenty of ILS approaches and never see them light up. They could just simply be decals for all I know. (yes, I'm being facetious but not not far from the truth because a whole lot of them near me have been decommissioned).

    Position of Autopilot control

Autopilot is a flight control, so should be close to other flight controls, i.e. throttle/prop/mixture. GPS is a visual device so should be closer line of sight. Thus, I would stack it as: Intercom GTN650xi GNC355 Transponder GFC500 If the CDI is composite input, I would delete it in favor of...

    digital oil temp for O-200?

I think it comes down to how much you want to go digital. Electronic logs might also be a factor.

The G300 was concurrent with the Cessna Skycatcher, which would have been circa 2010-2011.

I was actually referring to the eyewear. Looks rather out of the ordinary. Ever see something like that?

If I recall correctly, @Sac Arrow is a former competitive pistol shooter. What does @Sac Arrow think of Kim Ye-ji's apparatus? https://www.today.com/news/paris-olympics/kim-yeji-south-korean-shooter-2024-paris-olympics-rcna164469

How many here have read these books. See attached poll?

Instrument books during IFR training, the rest during PPL training. My day job involves reading/writing specs, so it wasn’t that bad of a slog.

You forgot "Airplane Flying Handbook". And the corresponding Balloon/Glider/Helicopter versions too, for that matter.

    Bose A20 vs Zulu 3

I got a DC One X because it is green. Turns out that it's a pretty good headset, if not better than the Zulu3/A20 then at least in the same ballpark.

Ah, I did not know that fan markers were associated with AN ranges. Thanks for the clarification.

Tips, ideas for judging off-field landing distances?

The absolute length of the short site is one thing, but you also have to consider what longer site has to offer. Something that's flat but a little short might be preferable to something long and rocky. Another thing to consider is what's at the end of the shorter site. It might be worthwhile to...

    Fan Marker... How to fly?

I happened to notice that search option when messing around with eNASR. The mainstream sources gave very little info other than it's not really used any more. I also thought it very strange that the FAA would keep a database of them even though they're not charted or used or even useful.

    Is adding vor worth it?

OK, so I dug out the Aspen install manual. Apparently they don't support the SL30's digital RS-232 protocol, which is a bit odd since it's pretty well documented.

    Fan Marker... How to fly?

So looking at Stanwyck (SKU), its status listed as "OPERATIONAL VFR ONLY". https://enasr.faa.gov/eNASR/nasr/Current/NavAid/2342 But I don't see any airways on or near it. Were these co-located along one when they were built? They don't seem to provide any lateral guidance other than "you're not...
