    Constant Speed Prop: Over/Under Speed

Right, duh, smh. Lol. So, vastly oversimplying again, the mechanics (springs) will hold the blades at highest rpm, lowest pitch the oil in the hub will allow. The high rpm pitch setting still requires oil pressure, if that pressure isn’t there, pitch moves even flatter, thus over speed?

    Constant Speed Prop: Over/Under Speed

Im working on the HP & Complex endorsements for a new to me R182. Right now studying the workings of the prop governor, and likely causes of over and under speed conditions, and I’m having a hard time getting it. Met with my instructor today on the ground, and I know the results when the control...

First cross country solo...and a big mistake!

Sounds like you learned a few good lessons with no harm done. And I’m always leery approaching a new to me airport, those things can be amazing hard to see!

    My Road to the PPL

I had the same motion sickness issues, they should go away after a couple more flights. Mine persisted, so I tried ginger supplements and candy- immediately better, and I do even think about it now. (Except those unusual atttiudes under the hood.) lol.

    Anything new in headsets?

Got the A20 the first of the year, if there’s anything better I’d be shocked.

It's Time! Anything to prepare for?

First lesson, first solo, and checkride are all memorable in their own ways. What I remember most from the first lesson was I couldn’t stop trying to make taxi turns with the yoke.

    Nervous about flying

Forgive the long post OP, I used to be nervous, too. And like you may have done, I think I watched way too many videos and read way too many stories, particularly the dreaded base to final stall. Combine that with a tendency to overthink, especially when trying to learn something, and I think I...

    Basic Med Physical in Dallas?

My current Class III is good through March, so I decided to go see Dr. Blankenau after March 1. (Is is overly ‘frugal’ of me to save a month that won’t matter for 4 years? Lol. And the Cardinal is a blast!

    Parachute Airplane Vs Non-Parachute Airplane

IMHO, your statement is correct as far as it goes. I would frame the issue as: Is a well trained, competent, current, proficient, and conscientious pilot safer with the chute, or without? IF so, is the increased safety factor worth the added cost? I don’t think it has to be either/or.

We did 12 landings, it is different than the 172. And it’s a little different sight picture. When I had on speed, it lands well, but be just a little fast and it does float! My perception was the float was manageable with a little patience, with a little less tendency for the bottom to fall out...

That’s what I’m trying to think through.... Your suggestion seems right to me. Get the numbers down cold without over thinking the units the number represent. Then do planning based in kts. Playing on ForeFlight, it looks like it makes the conversion from a mph aircraft profile to a kts...

I saw that! It was fairly calm yesterday, but I could see where much tail wind at all would fold the doors all the way to the cowl!
