The Van’s RV-10 - Is it the perfect airplane?

$1250 a year, so not bad at all.

    Hell, I’ll buy your 480 for $2001. I’d like a backup

    My plane turns 50

Mine just turned 60 on March 10th.....daaaamn she's old! She doesn't look a day over 20. I love asking non-aviation folks that ride with me, "what year do you think this plane is"? I normally hear 2005-2010ish. I just tell them the Piper plant that built Comanches shut down in 1972. Then I just...

Get ready for a lot more ATC facilities to close.

I’m at KC Center. So far no confirmed cases although there are probably a dozen controllers quarantined and not allowed into the facility for 14days. With 220 controllers, and most are well traveled, it’s bound to get in our building. We are just lucky this didn’t happen in the “prime...

Get ready for a lot more ATC facilities to close.

You’d think it’d be that easy but when you break it down you’d find out how impossible it would be. Also, one scope is not always operated by just one person. Depending on volume and complexity there will be anywhere from one to three controllers working a single sector. The equipment used is...

Get ready for a lot more ATC facilities to close.

Yep basically. In this case it would be the worst to be the last facility standing. Forced to work extra airspace you’ve never worked before, stressed, tired and working 8inches from your buddies. For now everyone is in good spirits though! I guess controllers are typically in pretty good health...

Get ready for a lot more ATC facilities to close.

Just hanging out at work and watching the **** hit the fan. With Indianapolis Center closed for two days now, lots of planes have been rerouted through ZKC and other surrounding facilities. Sounds like New York TRACON or Center just closed a few mins ago. Yesterday they were telling us to study...

    Nosy Controllers

No, in the Center environment we will never see VFR flight plan info. You are correct that Flight service does that (at least for now). That is why controllers will ask if you have a flight plan on file. It's not that we really care what color your plane is, or your phone number, or that we are...

    Nosy Controllers

I can gather a group with my Comanche, my buddies Mooney and an RV7. Whole bunch of planes you could hang out with. Look up We-B-Smokin at K81, it's on the field and awesome BBQ (possibly the best in KC area)! Worst thing is that it's only an 8min flight for me based out of KLXT... barely gets...

    Nosy Controllers

Approach is different for some reason, which I'd like to figure out. Here are ZKC and any other center its quite the process including adding having to add what Facility and Sector the airfile took place in the remarks section of the strip. Hey, looking forward to the new paint scheme on the...

    Nosy Controllers

Center Controller here. I think it's weird too but Center is required to get the flight information on a recorded line but approaches do not. It can really plug up the frequency when someone is trying to fumble through an IFR flight plan. Imagine having an aircraft on a heading for an ILS and...

    G5 battery drain

Have you been having the battery issue lately? I haven't been flying very much this winter due to wx but I notice last week that my HSI was showing 55% battery while the AI was showing 100% charge. I'm curious why.

    C-210/P-210

Nice, didn't know the strutted 210 could fly that high NA. The max approved altitude in the POH for my PA24-250 is FL220 with FL200 being the service ceiling. Pretty impressive on only 250hp. One of these days I'm going to try it.

For Sale S-tec autopilot & Bendix King KX155

Ok, so you didn’t even answer the question. So this was installed in a 172 yet the listing says new, never used? I’m guessing the paper work, which is required for install, says Cessna 172? Good luck with your sale.

What plane was the STEC 40 STC'd for? I see its a 14volt system but I know STEC is picky on what aircraft it goes in.

    Buying a HANGAR?

I kept my eye out for one several years ago. I love my Comanche 250 but they one thing I wish for is a second door!

    Buying a HANGAR?

Cool Plane! I've always loved the idea of a 112TCA. Lycoming TO-360, two doors, comfortable, and great looking! They are hard to find though....

    150 knots for $150k

My Chart says 12.3gph at 65% at 8000ft. In my plane thats 150-155kts. I run full throttle try to fly in the sweet spot of 9000-11k feet and you can get 160kts on less than 13gph at peak EGTs. Now every airframe will be different but it's not really slow. Plus with 90gals of fuel on board, range...
