    Too friggin hot to work

My sister and her family live in Mount Pleasant, just across the river from Charleston. We never, ever, go visit them in July or August.

    Coffee

    Yep, I have one.

    Coffee

Yeah, a Keurig would not work for me, either, if I drank as much as you do. I drink one to two cups each morning, usually just one, and my wife rarely ever drinks any. I get a Costa Rican coffee off Amazon for about $0.40 a cup. And I use white vinegar to clean mine. It's at least 10 years old...

    Coffee

@DaleB, I use a Keurig every day. I like it, and it's convenient. About six years ago, I worked for a company that had a Jura in the break room. I do have to admit that was a much better cup of coffee than a Keurig. I'm just not going to spend that kind of money on one.

    Coffee

I almost forgot. Parents had two milk cows when I was real little. Dad sold them when I was maybe 6 or 8. I vaguely remember them. My Mom has always said that she had a hard time getting us to transition to grocery store whole milk after he sold them. Maybe I liked the straight from the cow milk...

    Coffee

True, and case in point....I grew up on a farm. Farm boys are supposed to like milk, right? Good energy for farm work and all that. I have hated milk since I was a little child. My parents made me drink a glass every evening at dinner, or supper if you live in the country, well into my teens. I...

Is there still such thing as airport rug-rats?

What that kid doesn't understand is what he can learn from you older guys. Older folks with time and experience always have something to teach younger people. But I'm sure that young man doesn't care.

    Getting behind the airplane...

I guess 30 minutes is 30 minutes, whether you're in a Cub, or an SR-71.

    Coffee

I really enjoy coffee just for the taste of the coffee, not for the caffeine. No cream or sugar for me. But I only drink it in the mornings. I don't want to drink decaf, but caffeine bothers me at night if I drink it later in the day.

Another plane carrying parachutists down, this one in Sweden

Prayers for family and friends. Tough day. I have thought several times how terrifying it must be for those last few seconds before crashing, knowing you're not going to survive it.

    Ownership Anniversary

I can only imagine how exciting that flight home with your new-to-you plane would be.

    If only...

I'll never own one, but I think the DHC-2 in the OP is one sweet looking plane.

    Aircraft Purchase.

I'm certainly not arguing that Cirrus has been the sole savior of GA. However, by your own numbers, Cirrus came within less than 200 units of Cessna and Beechcraft combined. While being the most expensive. And again by your numbers, Cirrus produced roughly 1/3 of all new sales in those years...

    Aircraft Purchase.

Well there you go. That certainly explains it for Cessna. Edit: Are Beechcraft and Piper having good turbine sales, as well?

I don't know how these companies are surviving.

    Airplane down at Addison (KADS)

That brings up a burning question in my mind... 8 seconds before the crash, would they not have still been firmly planted on the runway and could have aborted the takeoff?

    Flying a 737-800

That might be a pretty eventful takeoff roll!

    Aircraft Purchase.

While I know you are just having fun, your comment touches on something that is true. I would never encourage anyone to purchase anything new if they can't totally afford it. But every time someone buys a new airplane, that's another used one on the market a few years down the road. That bodes...

    Flying a 737-800

It would be fun. Think I would have to have several sessions with an instructor first to enjoy it, otherwise I wouldn't even know how to start the engines.
